Things continue not to go well for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who, Fox News Channel reported, has been connected to the massive Somali migrant fraud scandal in her Minnesota district that has led to intense scrutiny of the Somali community in her area. In fact, according to reports on the matter, members of her inner circle profited hugely from the massive welfare scandal.
AS background, President Trump has repeatedly taken to his Truth Social social media platform to insist that Omar is involved in corruption. In one such post in late January, for example, he wrote, “Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is worth over $30 Million Dollars. There is no way such wealth could have been accumulated, legally, while being paid the salary of a politician. She should be investigated for Financial and Political Crimes, and that investigation should start, NOW!”
Similarly, in another post, this one in mid-September of 2025, the president posted the names of a collection of the Somali migrant fraudsters connected to the scandal, and asked, “Does Ilhan Omar know these people? Are they from her wonderfully managed Home Country of Somalia?”
It was then revealed in December that, as Fox News reported, multiple members of her inner circle had managed to profit from the Feeding Our Future scandal and other welfare fraud scandals. Ilhan Omar was a champion of the Feeding Our Future program from which her constituents stole hundreds of millions of dollars.
For example, it was revealed that Ilhan Omar did not just hold campaign events at one of the restaurants that was caught in the Feeding Our Future scandal, but is friends with the now-convicted owner of that restaurant. Further, a staffer of hers was connected to the fraud.
Fox News Digital, reporting on the restaurant matter, noted that the restaurant involved was the Safari Restaurant in the Twin Cities area. Rep. Omar held her 2018 congressional victory party there, and is friends with a co-owner of the establishment, Salim Ahmed Said. He was convicted in March of 2025 for his role in pilfering the Feeding Our Future program, stealing millions of dollars that he then spent on a mansion in Minneapolis and luxury shopping.
That wasn’t all. In August of 2025, it was revealed that a Democratic Party activist who had served as an Ilhan Omar campaign official in 2018 and 2020, Guhaad Hashi Said, had pleaded guilty to running a fake food site that he used to steal from the Feeding Our Future program. That fake site and organization were called Advance Youth Athletic Development. Said claimed to serve thousands of meals a day to kids, but really just pocketed millions of dollars.

Fox News Channel’s Harris Faulkner, commenting on the scandal and Ilhan’s connection to it, said, “Now investigators are tracking the web of fraud to other Minnesota Democrats such as Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Many of the suspects linked to the scheme live in her district, including a restaurant owner who hosted events for her. He has since been convicted of stealing $12 million in COVID funds.”

Trump, commenting on the situation, said, “These Somalians have taken billions of dollars out of our country. They’ve taken billions and billions of dollars. They have a representative, Ilhan Omar, who they say married her brother. She should be thrown the hell out of our country.”
He added, “And most of those people, they have destroyed Minnesota. She should not be — and her friend shouldn’t be allowed — frankly, they shouldn‘t even be allowed to be Congresspeople, OK? They shouldn’t even be allowed to be Congresspeople because they don’t represent the interests of our country.”
