Red State University System Caught Partnering with Hamas-Connected Charity in Jaw-Dropping Scandal

Indiana University’s Muslim Philanthropy Initiative (MPI), part of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, organized fundraising training events in July 2025 (Istanbul) and January 2026 (Jakarta), hosted in partnership with Hayat Yolu Association, a Turkish nonprofit.

The U.S. Treasury sanctioned Hayat Yolu as a “sham charity” providing material support to Hamas’s military wing and serving as a Muslim Brotherhood financial hub. MPI director Shariq Siddiqui praised the partnership publicly. MPI thanked Hayat Yolu for the support.

In any case, sources within the Treasury Department slammed the Muslim Philanthropy Initiative as a “sham charity” secretly bankrolling the terrorist group Hamas. The same source noted that MPI had “provided significant material support to Hamas.”

Exposing the so-called charity, the Treasury Department noted how the MPI was “involved in Hamas’ international funding network that enables Hamas to generate external revenue in direct support of Hamas’ military wing” and “operational headquarters, banking and financial hub for the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Likewise, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, “Hamas continues to finance its military wing by exploiting sham charities to support terrorist operations,” said Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. “The Treasury Department will not allow Hamas to misuse the charitable sector for its violent aims, and we will continue to target these networks wherever they operate.”

Reacting to the scandal, one user posted, “The Muslim Philanthropy Initiative, an Islamic think tank within the university, hosted fundraising training events in 2025 and 2026 for a Turkish nonprofit that the U.S. Treasury has since sanctioned as a “sham charity” allegedly funding Hamas.”

“According to Muslim Philanthropy Initiative, the group has trained more than 3,500 Muslim nonprofit professionals in 30 countries since 2018,” the same source noted, “Last year, the group attended the Doha Forum, an annual conclave funded by the Hamas-aligned Qatari monarchy.  Has the university received any funding from this group? What due diligence was conducted? Serious questions deserve clear answers.”

In another post discussing the subject, a conservative exposed the story, provoking a massive outcry from patriotic Americans. “These institutions and their officers need to be held fully accountable, either criminally or civilly,” one commentator said.

A conservative added, “The only…ONLY…Muslim “philanthropy” is aimed exclusively at Muslims. Christians, Jews and others need not apply. I always admired that (most) Christian charities help all comers, especially the Catholics and Salvation Army.”

Demanding accountability for this fraud, another declared, “Will be making a call immediately. My donations will never go towards funding Muslim terror.” Likewise, one commentator noted, “Higher Ed helped raise money for Hamas while systematically discriminating against Jewish students by refusing to fight Muslim antisemitism.”

Exposing another element, a quote tweet noted, “Pamela Whitten is the president of Indiana University. Her yearly salary is $900,000, with an annual performance bonus of $175,000. The university’s “Muslim Philanthropy Initiative” hosted several events for a phony “charity” that was shoving money into the hands of Hamas.”

“Our Department of Education handed this campus $492,992,266 in federal funding in 2025. President Pamela Whitten has no comment,” the same user added, exposing the hypocrisy of the highly compensated school administrator.
