Speaking in a press conference about the state of the Operation Epic Fury campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth went nuclear on the “dishonest and anti-Trump” mainstream media establishment, accusing it of lying about the status of the operation and the objectives of the president.
Such came on Thursday, March 19, as the Secretary of War commented on the status of the operation during a televised press conference that was delivered from inside the Pentagon. During the press conference, Secretary Hegseth argued that the United States is “winning decisively”, but the media doesn’t want to admit as much because it is resolutely and perfidiously anti-Trump.
Commenting on having met with the families of the service personnel who have died during the operation, Secretary Hegseth said that they told him to finish the job. “What I heard through tears, through hugs, through strength and through unbreakable resolve was the same from family after family,” Hegseth said. He added, “They said, ‘finish this.’”
Adding to that, he vowed to speak honestly to the American people and to do so directly rather than through the distortion field and outright lies of the radically anti-Trump media, saying, “I stand here today, speaking to you the American people, not through filters, not through reporters, not through cable news spin a dishonest and anti-Trump press will stop at nothing.”
Further, he argued that the media is desirous of Trump failing rather than America succeeding, and that is the basis of its lie-filled reporting, saying, “We know this at this point, to downplay progress, amplify every cost, and call into question every step. Sadly, TDS is in their DNA. They want President Trump to fail, but you, the American people, know better.”
Still not done calling out the media’s lies, the Secretary of War also said during the press conference that the media wants Americans to think they are headed into a forever war, saying, “The media here, not all of it, but much of it, wants you to think that 19 days into this conflict that we’re spinning into an abyss, or a forever war.”
He added, further explaining what is going on, that America is not nation-building in the way past presidents have done, saying, “Nothing could be further from the truth. Hear it from me, someone who watched previous foolish politicians, like Bush, Obama, and Biden, squander American credibility.”

The Secretary of War then explained that President Trump has no interest in such wars and knows them to be disasters, and is instead focused on destroying America’s enemies. He said, “This is not those wars. President Trump knows better. Epic Fury is different, it’s laser-focused.”

Additionally, Secretary Hegseth declared, “We’re winning, decisively and on our terms.” He added, “We are hunting them down methodically, ruthlessly and overwhelmingly like no other military in the world can do.” He then said, “Today will be the largest strike package yet.”
A White House official, commenting on the idea that American ground troops will be deployed to the fight, said, “There has been no decision to send ground troops at this time, but President Trump wisely keeps all options at his disposal.”
