WATCH: Longtime Democrat Reveals She Ditched Schumer’s Democrats and Joined the GOP Because the Democratic Party Went Crazy

A 67-year-old California woman who was a Democrat for 40 years, voting, campaigning, and donating, emotionally described walking away from the party after 2020. She is now a staunch conservative in a deep-blue neighborhood, where she must hide her Charlie Kirk T-shirts when walking her dog because locals celebrated the activist’s assassination.

“People think boomers can’t change,” she said. “At the age of 62, I left the Democrat party after 40 years, and now I’m conservative. It happens.” The viral AmericaFest clip highlights ongoing voter realignment among lifelong Democrats disillusioned by the party’s direction, especially in liberal California, following Charlie Kirk’s September 10, 2025, assassination at Utah Valley University and the disturbing celebrations that followed.

In any case, the emotional woman began, “I was a Democrat for 40 years. I walked away in 2020 I would not have, I never voted for a Republican in 40 years, I wouldn’t have dated a Republican. I gave money to Democrats.”

Building on that point, she added, “I campaigned for Democrats in 2020 I no longer recognize the party. I walked away five years from five years later, and I’m now a very staunch conservative, and I know tons and tons of former Democrats in California.”

Clearly emotional about the assassination and horrific attitude from the left, she explained, ” I but in my own neighborhood where I live, I have to cover my Charlie Kirk T-shirts when I walk. I’m going to cry when I live in such a deep blue part of California, when I walk my dog, I have, if I’m wearing a Charlie Kirk t-shirt, I have to cover it with a jacket or sweater, because I live among people who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination.”

Wrapping up her comments, the emotional woman noted, “I just want to tell you, I’m 67 people think boomers can’t change. At the age of 62, I left the Democrat party after 40 years, and now I’m on the conservative side. It happens.”

Posting the clip, a popular conservative said, “Woman who was a Democrat for 40 YEARS, says that she walked away from the Party in 2020 and became a Republican…” Providing a personal anecdote, a commentator added, “My mom was also a ‘forever’ Democrat!” democrat! That all changed as well in 2020!”

“A 40 year Democrat walking away is not a vibe shift, it is an indictment. People are tired of the lies, the crime, the endless spending, and getting called evil for wanting a normal country,” an incisive comment pointed out.

MAGA Start Derrick Evans added, “She was a Democrat for over 40 years & finally walked away. She is now a big conservative who lives in California. She has to cover her Charlie Kirk shirt when she walks down the street because she lives around so many left wing extremists…”

In the comments under his reaction, one user said, “What’s sad is that in America she feels that she needs to cover her shirt not because it has vulgar language on it but because she may get assaulted for having her own beliefs.”
