On the night of March 11, 2026, a member of the Cal State Fullerton College Republicans was horribly assaulted by a group of unknown attackers while on the streets of our nation’s capital. The young Republican, Brent Carr, is currently enrolled as a fourth-year student at California State University and is in Washington, D.C. for an internship.
During the horrific attack, Carr sustained a series of injuries, including several cuts to his face that were deep enough to require stitches. When authorities arrived at the scene, they immediately transported Carr to a nearby emergency room. A statement released by the CSU Fullerton College Republicans revealed that he is recovering from the ordeal, which could have ended with the loss of his life.
The statement goes on to say that the organization is standing behind Carr and strongly condemns any form of violence. The group is also asking for the police to continue their investigation into the attack and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. There was no further information provided in the statement from the group.
NewsForce anchor William Branson Donahue took to the social media platform X to provide additional details not contained in the official statement on the matter. Donahue said that Carr was assaulted by a group of four unknown black men outside of Union Station. He also revealed that Carr’s internship is a work-study program with Congressman Ken Calvert.
Donahue then said that he spoke with Carr and said that he’s in good spirits as he is recovering from the assault. He then stated that, as of this writing, the motive behind the attack remains unknown. He then said, “Regardless, this kind of violence is completely unacceptable. Our students should feel safe walking home and attending class without fear for their lives.”
He made a call for a restoration of law and order in the nation’s capital to close out his post. A number of comments below the post blamed Babylon Bee managing editor Joel Berry, for stirring up the incident by allegedly referring to college Republicans as Nazis. However, it’s important to note that the Babylon Bee is a satire site and was originally launched and is still primarily run by Christians.
Another commenter pointed out that allowing these sorts of crimes to continue to happen is a choice and that this level of violence is unacceptable, writing, “Allowing this and living like this is a choice. Glad he’s safe, but this is unacceptable.” A different user suggested that Carr not only file a police report, but also a request for a hate crime investigation. “File with local police, but also file/request for a federal hate crime investigation via @JudgeJeanine,” the user said.

A user also noted that when the National Guard was stationed in D.C., Union Station was a lot safer. “Union Station was safe when the National Guard was stationed there. But Democrats kicked and screamed about it. Wait until it happens to one of theirs,” the individual posted. Responding to that post, someone said, “That’s the problem with so called Republicans, they always cave. It always costs the people blood and money.”
