In an attempt to take a break from the Operation Epic Fury conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran for a bit, President Donald Trump appeared at the White House College Sports Roundtable, the same event he funnily joked with a conservative reporter about the reporter’s son’s college baseball career. Fox News reporter Peter Doocy then caused a scene by trying to press President Trump on the conflict during the sports event.
As background, the conflict has now extended to about two weeks, and at the time of the sports roundtable on Friday, March 6, had gone on for about a week. The Washington Post reported, though it was unclear if the report was accurate, that the Russian Federation is helping the Iranians target American and allied forces in the region.
It was about that claim that Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy tried pressing Trump, which annoyed the president because the event was supposed to be a break from the endless talk of death and conflict and instead be about the relatively light topic of sports. So, Doocy’s bringing the issue up quite frustrated him, and led to the president snapping at the Fox News reporter.
Asking the president about the matter, Doocy noted that the Washington Post has reported that Russia is providing targeting solutions to Iran, much as America has provided to Ukraine, saying, “President Trump, it sounds like the Russians are helping Iran target and attack Americans now.”
Cutting the reporter off and snapping at him, President Trump brushed the question aside and hammered Doocy for asking a question that was completely irrelevant regarding what was being discussed at the sports event. He began, “That’s an easy problem compared to what we’re doing here, but can I be honest?”
Continuing, the president noted that while he has long respected Doocy, it was annoying for him to be asking about an irrelevant issue. He said, “It’s just, I have a lot of respect for you, you’ve always been very nice to me. What a stupid question that is to be asking at this time. We’re talking about something else.”

That wasn’t the only exchange that President Trump had with Doocy about Iran recently. In another, Doocy asked him, “President Trump, what have you heard about this bulletin that some law enforcement has out about a possible Iran revenge plot in California, where there would be some kind of a vote off the door, launching drones towards the coast?”
Trump responded, “It’s being investigted, but you have a lot of things happening and all we can do is take them as they come. The war itself is being prosecuted as well as anybody has ever seen and this is other countries telling me too. Big countries, powerful countries, they said they’ve never seen anything like it. And they also agree with what I’m doing. They say it’s it’s an evil country and it’s been for 47 years that way.”
Doocy then asked, “And if they try to hit us back, have you been briefed about how many Iran’s sleeper cells there could be inside the US right now?” Trump shot back, “I have been. And a lot of people came in through Biden with his stupid open border. But we know where most of them are. We’ve got our eye on all of them, I think.”
Pressing him on the number, Doocy asked, “Is it dozens?” Trump then said, “They came in through the open border policies of Sleepy Joe Biden, one of the worst, the worst president in the history of our country. And we’ve got eyes on all them. But the war itself is being prosecuted at a level that nobody’s seen before. It’s pretty amazing to watch.”
