Things got crazy in Austin, Texas, as a reporter for the local CBS station revealed on air that he had been told by his superiors via text not to cover the spontaneous pro-Trump rally that was taking place near the Texas Capitol in response to the strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran. Predictably, conservatives online praised the reporter for bravely standing up to his radically far-left superiors.
For reference, the reporter involved is named Vinny Martorano. He is a weekend news reporter for CBS Austin, and was sent to cover the spontaneous rally that was occurring near the steps of the Texas Capitol building in downtown Austin, where a large crowd had gathered to wave old Iranian flags and cheer the Trump Administration for bombing the Islamist regime.
As Martorano started to cover the matter, his team got a text from the higher ups at CBS Austin, and appeared to have been told in the text to cut the coverage of the rally, a decision that appears to have been made within CBS Austin once it became clear that the rally was pro-Trump rather than anti-Trump.
On camera when the message came in, Martorano asked, after reading it on a smartphone, “What’s that mean?” He was told, “They don’t want us to focus on this,” which appeared to mean that the CBS Austin leadership didn’t want to cover the pro-Trump event. Martorano, bravely responding, refused to cut it off and cover up the pro-Trump rally as his superiors allegedly wanted. Instead, he said, “Alright…well I am,” and got down to covering it.
One poster, for example, posted the clip and captioned it by skewering the woke media apparatus, writing, “A CBS reporter was told not to focus on Iranians gathered at the Capitol in Austin, who where there to show support of America and Israel’s actions in Iran. You don’t hate the media enough!”
Similarly, another such poster on X wrote, “A CBS reporter in Austin, Texas, is going massively viral after refusing to follow a text message from a boss telling him not to focus on a huge crowd praising Trump’s actions in Iran ‘They don’t want us to focus on this’ ‘WELL I AM’ 🫳 🎤”
Still another said, “Austin CBS reporter just went rogue and earned nationwide praise for REFUSING to bury the story, straight-up told her higher-ups NO when ordered to IGNORE the massive support for Trump obliterating Khamenei! ‘They don’t want us to focus on this…’ ‘Alright. Well, I AM.’ Kudos to this reporter for speaking truth.”

Yet another commenter said, “THIS is what a REAL journalist looks and sounds like! This CBS reporter out of Austin, TX, deserves a-lot of credit after he REFUSED to follow orders sent directly to him from CBS corporate telling him to IGNORE the massive amounts of support that President Trump has been receiving nationwide following yesterday’s successful operation to take our Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his regime.”
