WATCH: Rep. Boebert Demands Congress Finally Shut Down the Congressional “Hush Money” Slush Fund

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is officially calling for the Congressional Hush Money slush fund to be revealed to the public as a means of helping to flush the corruption out of Congress and hold elected officials accountable for their actions, especially when it comes to covering up acts of sexual misconduct.

A reporter caught up with Boebert as she trekked through the halls of Congress, asking her if she supported a new resolution introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) that would direct the House Committee on Ethics to publicly release records and reports on their investigations into members of Congress for sexual harassment and unwelcome sexual advances.

“If you sexually harass someone in Congress you do not get to hide behind closed doors. Tony Gonzales showed us what is happening in Congress. But he is not the only one,” Mace said in a press release about the resolution. “The American people deserve answers. Staff deserve answers. Women deserve answers. No more protection for predators in Congress. We are going to shine a light on every single one of them.”

The resolution comes after Mace called for Rep. Tony Gonzales to step down from his post after disturbing text messages were released revealing the congressman sexually harassed one of his staffers. The reporter asked Boebert, “Obviously, you called on Congressman Gonzales to resign over alleged sexual misconduct. There’s now a resolution that would reveal a lot more about the culture of sexual misconduct in Congress. Are you supportive of Congresswoman Mace?”

The Colorado Republican replied that she is 100% on board with Mace’s resolution to drag the dark sexual conduct being committed by certain members of Congress from the shadows into the light. “I’m absolutely supportive of Congresswoman Mace’s resolution to uncover the other sexual harassment issues that take place here in our nation’s capital.”

Boebert then revealed she wants to go even further. The congresswoman called for information concerning the congressional hush money slush fund to be released to the public. Money in this fund is used to buy off staffers and to keep them quiet about incidents of misconduct they experienced or witnessed. “And even further, I am supportive of releasing the congressional hush money slush fund,” she continued.

She then revealed that there has been tens of millions of dollars paid out over the years in Congress in order to slap proverbial duct tape over the mouths of staffers on Capitol Hill. “There’s been tens of millions of dollars that have been paid out over the years here in Congress to keep Hill staffers quiet about alleged sexual misconduct and other forms of mistreatment in the office,” Boebert added.

Boebert then said she wants to see every congressman that’s paid out a settlement to a staffer held accountable for their actions. “So I would love to see every congressman who’s ever had to pay a settlement to a staffer, and I’m certainly supportive of Nancy Mace’s resolution,” she said. The reporter followed up by asking the congresswoman, “What would be your message to a staffer who finds themselves in these terrible situations where members are being creepy to them?”

She responded by slamming the lack of integrity in Congress and the hypocrisy of leaders not being held to a high moral standard. “I mean, it’s awful. It’s awful in any work or any workplace. It certainly should be here. We have high standards. We agree to these standards. We promise hundreds of thousands of people that we are leaders. Leaders of integrity, and it should not be happening here,” she concluded.
