Dennis Quaid Sounds Off on Hollywood for Going Too Far Left, Praises President Trump

Actor Dennis Quaid, in an appearance on Pastor Greg Laurie’s podcast, criticized Hollywood for shifting “so extremely, so far left,” noting that even Clinton Democrats face extreme backlash, likened to being called Nazis or neo-cons.

The 71-year-old actor, who self-described as “common-sense independent” and leans conservative, praised President Trump as “surprisingly approachable,” “very funny,” “really genuine,” and possessing unmatched energy, arguing his authenticity won voters’ trust. Offering a solution to the issue, Quaid hoped for a “spiritual revolution” that would unite Republicans and Democrats beyond partisanship.

Starting off his comments, Dennis Quaid recounted a quote from equally famous actor Dana Carvey, “Things have gone so extremely, so far left right now. I saw a podcast,” Quaid told Laurie, “it was Bill Maher and Dana Carvey, and I’m forgetting the other guy’s name — but anyway, I think it was Dana Carvey said, ‘I’ve told my friends in Hollywood I’m a Clinton Democrat, and some of them are calling me a Nazi now.'”

Building on this point, he quipped that liberals view any dissent as being“the same thing as being a neo-con, on the right side or whatever. What used to be, you can’t be anymore.” Adding more context, he described himself as a “common-sense independent.”

Quaid added that he was “more conservative in my head,” and “I’m just for common sense, is really what I am.” The famous actor also had kind words for the president, saying that he was, “very personable, incredibly funny, a good listener, and a surprisingly approachable person.”

Continuing his remarks, he noted that Trump was “surprisingly approachable and very funny. And really genuine. He wouldn’t be president if he wasn’t genuine. The people who voted for him know that he has their best interests at heart, that he is a genuine person,” adding, “I’ve never seen anybody with that kind of energy.”

Reacting to the viral interview, a popular post on social media stated, “DENNIS QUAID: HOLLYWOOD HAS GONE “SO FAR LEFT,” PRAISES TRUMP AS “GENUINE.” Actor Dennis Quaid says American politics and Hollywood culture have shifted dramatically left, arguing that viewpoints once considered moderate are now labeled extreme.”

The post continued, “Speaking on The Greg Laurie Show, Quaid agreed that even identifying as a Clinton-era Democrat today can draw backlash in entertainment circles…The actor, who portrayed Ronald Reagan in the 2024 biopic “Reagan” added that the country is experiencing what he sees as a broader spiritual shift beyond party politics.”

Responding to the viral post, one user quipped,” He’s right. It’s not just that these stars vocalize their support for a candidate; it’s the fact that they openly disparage anyone who supports the opposition. Like they know better.”

“I love Dennis Quaid. Amazing actor. Watch I Can Only Imagine. Great performance. Thank you Dennis for speaking up against the Hollywood “lefters”. 🇺🇲,” another added. Agreeing, a comment read, “He is one of the last actors left that I can respect. A dying breed, unfortunately.”
