In a very eye-opening and jaw-dropping press release promulgated by the Department of Justice (DOJ), U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller of the Western District of Louisiana highlighted seven recent federal cases involving threats, assaults, or interference with law enforcement, public officials, and the judicial process.
Cases include Justin Chadwick Butler’s social media threats against Speaker Mike Johnson and President Trump; Avieyle Moore’s guilty plea for mailing a fake fentanyl-laced threat to the Supreme Court; Alex Taylor Fontenot’s indictment for threatening ICE agents; Maximiliano Perez-Perez’s detention for biting an ICE officer; and Micah James Legnon’s charges for threatening ICE officers while armed.
Reacting to the overall, horrible situation, U.S. Attorney Keller noted, “Every attack or threat against our law enforcement officers, our public officials, or our courts is an attack on the rule of law itself,” adding, “These arrests, indictments, and convictions show our Office’s commitment alongside our federal partners to vigorously pursue and prosecute those who perpetrate these acts.”
For context, Justin Chadwick Butler, one of the men mentioned in the release, was arrested after posting “Repeated violent threats … targeting Speaker Mike Johnson and the President Donald Trump… Authorities identified several social media posts in which Butler advocated for Speaker Johnson’s death or execution, including stating for example that ‘Mike Johnson couldnt [sic] lie so smoothly with bullet holes in his face.'”
Another one of the suspects, Alex Taylor Fontenot, posted a video making threats against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. According to the DOJ, “In the video, Fontenot allegedly stated that if ICE agents ‘step foot on to my house, you’re leaving in a body bag’ and that they would ‘be dropped like flies, immediately, so [they] won’t feel a thing.'”
One of the other figures, Maximiliano Perez-Perez, 22 an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was arrested “December 2025 for biting an ICE officer while being detained for being an illegal alien subject to removal. Perez-Perez faces up to 20 years in prison as well as three years of supervised release. The matter is being investigated by ICE and Homeland Security Investigations.”
Oneof the other criminals, Micah James Legnon, “Also known as Dark Witch and Kateri the Witch, is associated with the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), a far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government, and anti-capitalist group,” was arrested for annoucing that it was, “time to recreate Waco TX with these f***ers,” and one week later allegedly drove toward New Orleans with body armor, an assault rifle, a handgun, and a gas cannister. ”

Reacting to this dramatic arrest, FBI Director Kash Patel declared that he would not be cowed by these far-left activists, saying, “The FBI will not tolerate anyone who threatens law enforcement officers and will work with our partners to bring them to justice.”
“This defendant allegedly threatened ICE officers and had an assault rifle, body armor, and other items in his vehicle when he was arrested by local law enforcement. He is associated with the Turtle Island Liberation Front, which espouses anti-government views, Patel explained. “The FBI is steadfast in our commitment to protect the American people and those who wear the badge to protect our communities.”
