House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries crumbled under tough questions from a journalist about U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett’s communications with Jeffrey Epstein, including texting him during a 2019 Michael Cohen hearing and calling him a “friend” in 2018 messages while sharing non-public info like an IRS tax break extension.
Despite the damning evidence, Jeffries defended Plaskett, claiming that a failed GOP censure resolution was overreach. He also emphasized her repeated denunciations of Epstein and avoided directly addressing appropriateness.
In any case, the clip began with a courageous journalist holding Jeffries’ feet to the fire. “In the high, very high-profile Michael Cohen hearings, Stacy Plaskett was in direct communication with Jeffrey Epstein, and this was after he pleaded guilty to sex crimes.”
Adding more context, the inquisitive reporter kept going, before asking an insightful question: “This is after the Miami Herald investigation into all these heinous acts. So why is it, as a Democratic leader, that you are okay with that?”
Backpedaling, the House Minority leader whined, “I expressed my position on the floor yesterday. My statement speaks for itself in a bipartisan way, a bipartisan way. The resolution that was introduced targeting Stacy Plaskett was defeated, and it was defeated for several reasons, including the fact that it was a dramatic overreach related to throwing her off her committee.”
“So what about Democrats?” the journalist interjected. Responding, Jeffries claimed, “It’s going to ask questions you got to let me answer. Democrats and Republicans defeated the center. Stacey Plaskett has made clear her position as it relates to Jeffrey Epstein repeatedly, and her words speak for itself.”
Reacting to the situation, one viral post read, “I’ve never seen something backfire more spectacularly than the Epstein situation. Jeffries refuses to answer why Plaskett was being fed lines via text from Epstein mid-hearing, when they all knew he was a convicted sexual predator. The Dems exposed themselves 😂”

As we reported at the American Tribune, newly released DOJ Epstein documents reveal U.S. Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D) called Jeffrey Epstein a “friend” in texts, shared sensitive legislative info, and had close ties, including campaign donations. These stunning revelations come after several denials of friendship.
In any case, in one message from September 24, 2018, Plaskett noted, “I know you’re tremendously busy. Thanks so much for taking the time and sharing ideas and thoughts. I appreciate your support and hope I’m not presumptuous to consider you a friend.” Epstein answered, “Privileged to be called friend.”

Another message, concerning an IRS tax break, read, “You’re the first person I told. Don’t say anything yet.”
The billionaire answered, “Great work,” as the politician gushed, “Now let’s see if we can create some controls for the money we get for rebuilding.”
