After a conservative outcry over his not yet having released the January 6th footage, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s office told Axios that he had given the footage to Tucker Carlson’s team. As that outlet reported:
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given Fox News’ Tucker Carlson exclusive access to 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from the Jan. 6 riot, McCarthy sources tell me.
Carlson TV producers were on Capitol Hill last week to begin digging through the trove, which includes multiple camera angles from all over Capitol grounds. Excerpts will begin airing in the coming weeks.
Well, Tucker Carlson decided to discuss the footage in his Monday night segment, and what he had to say about it is what many on the right have suspected all along: the footage tells a different story than the one Kinzinger and Co. want you to believe. Watch him here:
BREAKING: Tucker Carlson says the January 6th footage they’ve reviewed so far already contradicts what we’ve been told about that day

“So for really more than two years now, we’ve been complaining about and we think it’s justified the fact that the US Congress has held 1000s 10s of 1000s of hours of closed circuit camera footage from the public, they have not released any of it from January 6, and January 6, of course, is a transformative event in this country. It’s been used to change the country.
“So there are about 44,000 hours. And we have you may have heard this, they’ve been granted access to that. And we believe that access is unfettered, we believe we have secured the right to see whatever we want to see.
“So we’ve been there about a week our producers, some of our smartest producers have been there, looking at this stuff and trying to figure out what it means and how it contradicts or not the story that we’ve been told for more than two years. We think already that in some ways, it does contradict that story. And so we’re going to spend the rest of this week taking a look at it, assessing it as honestly as we can and we’re going to bring you what we find next week.”
Carlson also said, while speaking on the matter with Axios “[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret” and “If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.”
Tucker is an excellent choice for who to hand the footage off to. He’s competent, good at his job, and trusted by most on the right, unlike his more moderate peers at Fox News Channel or the lesser known podcasters and personalities on the right, and he’s popular enough and strong enough in his beliefs that he likely won’t back down if what he finds contradicts what the regime and its allies within FNC would prefer he say.
So, now all that remains to be seen is what footage Tucker and his team have found contradicts the regime’s story.
