In yet another infuriating move from the radical left, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is making a push to require that the LGBTQ+ rainbow “Pride” flag be considered on the same status level as both the American flag and US military flags in the eyes of the federal government, something that would be a major reversal from Trump Admin policy.
As background, the Trump Administration moved, relatively early on in the second Trump administration, to require that American government buildings around the world fly no flags other than the American flag and certain military-connected flags when and where appropriate, such as the POW-MIA flag.
Then, as part of that push, the Trump Administration removed a Pride flag that was still flying as part of a national monument outside of the New York City Stonewall Inn, a gay bar that is widely seen as where the gay rights movement formed in the wake of a clash between the patrons and police, and where there is a national monument.
The left, as could be expected, went berserk when Trump had the flag stripped down. For example, Sen. Schumer declared, in a typically pearl-clutching fashion, “Stonewall is sacred ground and Congress must act now to permanently protect the Pride flag and what it stands for. Trump’s hateful crusade must end.”
Further, the senator absurdly claimed that forcing the nation to treat the pride flag like the American flag would increase “liberty”, saying, “The very core of American identity is liberty and justice for all — and that is what this legislation would protect: each national park’s ability to make its own decision about what flag can be flown.”
Concluding, he vowed that the flag will continue flying and that the move taking down the pride flag in compliance with a general executive order was meant to “hurt” the “LGBTQ community”, saying, “Attempts to hurt New York and the LGBTQ community simply won’t fly, but the Stonewall Pride flag always will.”
Now, Senate Minority Leader Schumer is moving to introduce legislation that would make the rainbow Pride flag a congressionally authorized flag as a symbol of the gay rights movement, a major distinction that would give the flag similar protections as such banners as U.S. flag, military flags, POW/MIA flags, and a smattering of others recognized by Congress.

Conservatives online were furious over Schumer’s push. One such conservative poster on X said, commenting on the move, “Chuck Schumer’s latest grandstanding stunt is to shove through a bill that elevates the Pride flag to the lofty heights of the American flag and military banners.”
Continuing in the same post, that same poster argued, “Apparently, in his world, symbolic rainbow virtue-signaling and pandering to the AOC left will get him elected and maybe stop AOC from running for his seat. I’m glad Trump is yanking the rainbow flag from public places. The pandering left”.
