WATCH: Woke Protester Starts Crying after She Gets Asked to Define Scary Term She Kept Using, and Couldn’t Do So

A clip of conservative influencer Kaitlin Bennett interviewing a liberal protester is going viral after she asked the woman to define the scary buzzword the left loves to toss around whenever it’s demonstrating against President Donald Trump, his administration, and especially U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers: fascism.

During the encounter, the woman being interviewed by Kait couldn’t provide a simple definition for the term, actually breaking down in tears when the realization hit her that she didn’t have a clue what the word actually meant. The “man-on-the-streets” style interview kicked off with Kait asking the woman about her protest sign, which featured a slogan about fighting fascism.

“Your sign says ‘fight fascism.’ What is fascism?” Kait asked. The woman, whose voice was already quivering, indicating she was on the verge of melting down into tears, went on to give an extremely vague answer. “Fascism is the breakdown of a society. There’s…there’s no society when fascism is present.” The answer didn’t satisfy Kait, who once again asked the woman for a definition of the term.

“Can you give me a definition?” she pressed. The woman, growing ever more uncomfortable with being confronted about her sign, answered by saying she didn’t feel she needed to provide anyone with an answer about what fascism. “I don’t…I don’t really know if I have to give you a definition, because I know I feel violated against my government.”

Unwilling to allow the woman to avoid the question, Kait pressed forward once again, pointing out that if you’re going to utilize your First Amendment right to free speech and take a stand against something you disagree with, believing it’s important for others to join with you in airing your grievances, you need to be able to define your cause.

“Okay, but what is fascism? When we want to fight something, it’s easy, it’s good to define them, right?” Kait continued. Seeing the woman floundering, Kait extended a lifeline to bail her out of her predicament by turning to one of the woman’s friends protesting with her. “We can phone a friend,” she says, turning to another protester in the crowd. “What is fascism? You can help her.”

The friend declined, saying she didn’t want to talk to Kait, which many have interpreted as an admission that she, too, could not define the buzzword. The woman then replied that she’s fighting for how she feels, saying that she’s protesting on behalf of others. “I’m fighting for how I feel, right? For others,” she responded. Kait pressed on, saying, “For others, of course. What specifically do you feel?”

The protester replies, “Can you not hear it in my voice?” The quivering in her voice grows even more intense, showcasing her frustration at not being able to articulate a clear answer as to what fascism is. Kait asks the woman if the question is about to make her break down in tears. “Are you going to cry because I asked you to define a term on your sign?”

“I’m not trying to make you cry,” Kait continues, “And I don’t think you should. I don’t think you should cry. I’m just asking you to define what fascism is, because I see a lot of people getting labeled this. A whole administration is being labeled that. ICE agents are being labeled as fascists and it’s getting them hurt.” Kait then adds, “And so I think if we’re going to talk about fighting fascism, which people do by assaulting ICE agents, by going after Trump trying to shoot him dead on stage, he’s labeled a fascist, and then someone tries to take his life on stage.”

Kait then recalls the assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk, who was killed during a Turning Point USA event in September 2025, as an example of someone who was labeled a fascist being murdered over that term. “Charlie Kirk was labeled a fascist, and he got murdered in front of everyone. So I think it’s important when we are holding signs in public that say to fight fascism, it’s important to define it.”

It’s then pointed out in the video that the woman not only fails to provide a definition for the term, but misspelled it on her protest sign. Instead of “fascism,” it says, “facism.” Conservative commentator Jonah Goldberg, in his book, Liberal Fascism, points out that true fascism is not a far-right ideology, but has its roots in the left, as it originated within the progressive movement and believes that the solution to all problems comes from the state with a strong, powerful leader to direct its functions.
