Speaking out over a year after being persecuted at the hands of the Miss America organization, Kayleigh Bush, the 2024 winner of the Miss North Florida beauty contest, claimed that she had been stripped of her Miss America title because she staunchly refused to sign a contract that would have required that she accept transgenderism.
Such is what she said when speaking about the matter to TMZ, saying that she used to admire the Miss America organization, but has been left infuriated by its attempt to force her into signing a contract that would require she affirm an ideological position in which she does not and can not believe.
In the interview that was released in a viral post on X, Bush was asked, “You’re looking to compete for Miss America. But then they they took your Florida crown off you because you made statements about sort of transgender [related-issues]?”
Responding, she explained that that is exactly what happened to her, saying, “Yes, that is exactly right. I was asked to sign a contract that was different than the first one that I had agreed to because they had changed it four weeks after I rightly won, and so I didn’t lose my crown because I broke a rule. I lost the crown because I was unwilling to rewrite the truth.”
She was then asked if she was “super upset” about having her crown taken away for standing up for her morals, Bush said, “Yes, it was it was heartbreaking, it was confusing. It was disappointing, because Miss America has been honoring women for over 100 years, and now they can’t even define what a woman is. And heartbroken. It was a lot of soul searching, but God uses all things for good, and here I am.”
And, when asked under what circumstances she spoke out about the matter, Bush explained, “Well, immediately, as soon as we were given the contract, I first thing my mom and I, we started raising concern about it, and got on a conference call immediately with one of the directors for the Miss America organization, and weeks and weeks and weeks of pleading with them, sending videos, sending letters, emails, demand letters through Liberty Counsel, because they picked up my case and they just, ‘No, no, no’, and they doubled down and basically just got to the point.”
She further noted that her having to speak out on the subject came because she decling “to sign the contract.” Then, adding to that, she explained that she had to reject the contract Miss America tried to get her to sign “because I couldn’t agree that a little boy can mutilate his body and become a woman.”

And, shortly afterwards, when asked how she feels about the Miss America organization, Bush said, “Now that’s a tough question. I used to look up to Miss America because they empowered women, but now it’s really disappointing to see that they’ve abandoned such a common sense truth, and that is that a man is a man, and that a woman is a woman, and disappointing, disappointed in the Miss America organization, but I’m really hoping that they get back on track and return to truth, and, you know, start honoring God in their pageants like they used to.”
