Federal Judge Faces Fire for Releasing Four Illegal Aliens Convicted of Horrible Crimes from ICE Custody

A federal judge in Louisiana has allowed four illegal aliens with mile-long rap sheets that include heinous crimes such as murder and the sexual violation of minors to walk free earlier this month. On February 6, 2026, Judge John deGravelles, who was appointed to the bench of the Middle District Court of Louisiana, gave the order for all four defendants to be released from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

“The ramifications will only be the continued rape, murder, assault, and robbery of more American victims,” Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin went on to say about the ruling. “Releasing these monsters is inexcusably reckless. President Trump and Secretary Noem are now enforcing the law and arresting illegal aliens who have no right to be in our country.”

“We are applying the law as written,” she continued. “If an immigration judge finds an illegal alien has no right to be in this country, we are going to remove them. Period.” One of the four defendants is Ibrahim Ali Mohammed, an Ethiopian who was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor. Back in September 2024, a judge issued a final order of removal for Mohammed.

According to Fox News, the Biden administration released Mohammed into the United States. Luis Gaston-Sanchez, an illegal immigrant from Cuba, was convicted for homicide, assault, resisting an officer, concealing stolen property, and two counts of robbery. He, too, had a deportation order dated for September 24, 2001.

A third individual, Ricardo Blanco Chomat, also hailing from Cuba, also has convictions for homicide, along with kidnapping, aggravated assault with a firearm, burglary, robbery, larceny, and selling cocaine. Chomat was issued a deportation order on March 27, 2002. The fourth, Francisco Rodriguez-Romero, was convicted of homicide and a weapons offense. He was ordered to be booted from the country on May 30, 1995.

Homeland Security announced in September 2025 that they were working with the state of Louisiana to expand an ICE detention facility at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, known as Angola Prison. Nicknamed the “Louisiana Lockup,” the prison houses some of the criminal illegal aliens taken into custody by ICE.

According to a report from The New York Post, woke judges upholding the agenda of Biden’s administration has been on the rise ever since President Donald Trump took office at the beginning of 2025. The Post reveals that jurists in courts presided over by these judges release violent offenders ahead of trial at an alarming rate, setting these folks free more than 80% of the time.

The report reveals that one of the worst offenders is Judge Wanda Licitra of the Queens Criminal Court. She’s only set bail five times and held no suspects in pretrial detention in 34 violent felony cases from January to June 2024. One sickening example of Licitra’s soft-on-crime approach is when she allowed a man accused of smashing human feces into a person’s face on a subway platform to walk free.

“Judges like that, we call them judges who drink the Kool Aid, because instead of them focusing on the actual situation, they’re drinking the Kool Aid of bail reform,” one veteran criminal defense attorney who has had repeated encounters with Licitra told The Post.
