Dave Hollis is a former Disney executive who left that job to help his then-wife, Rachel Hollis, run a lifestyle-focused business empire that began with her bestseller book Girl Wash Your Face. He has died at his home in Dripping Springs, Texas. That is a town on the outskirts of Austin, Texas.
That was announced by the Hays County Justice of the Peace, Andrew Cable, who announced that an autopsy would be performed on Hollis to determine his cause of death because he was “youthful and didn’t have a long medical history.”
Rachel Hollis posted about the matter on Instagram, saying “We are so devastated. I have no words and my heart is too broken to find them. Please wrap the kids up in prayers as we try and navigate through the unthinkable.”
Breitbart, reporting on the relationship between Dave and Rachel Hollis and what Dave Hollis did when he left Disney to work with Rachel on her lifestyle empire, reported:
Dave Hollis worked for Disney for 17 years and had been head of distribution for the company for seven years when he left in 2018 to join his wife’s venture. The parents of four moved from Los Angeles to the Austin area, collaborated on livestreams, podcasts and organized life-affirming conferences. In their podcast, “Rise Together,” they focused on marriage.
When Rachel Hollis announced on Instagram in 2020 that they were getting divorced, she said they had worked “endlessly” over the prior three years to make their marriage work but came to the conclusion that “it is healthier and more respectful for us to choose this as the end of our journey as a married couple.”
During his tenure at Disney, Hollis oversaw the release of blockbusters including “Black Panther” and films in the the “Star Wars” franchise. He told The Associated Press in 2018 that he joined his wife’s enterprise after realizing he was in a corporate rut. He said his new life felt “like a calling.”
After his divorce, Mr. Hollis then started dating fitness trainer Heidi Powell. She posted about his passing on Instagram as well, including a photo of the two of them together and a caption in which she said:
When we posted this photo 2 years ago today to announce our love and to celebrate your birth, I think we both had a different idea of how our story would play out. It didn’t look like this.
I’m heartbroken and totally devastated. I’m sick. My kids miss you so much. Our world is rocked. I will never be the same.
I’m not sure how forward looks without a piece of your love. The best love I’ve ever been given. Other-worldly kind of love. I cannot believe this is real.
I don’t know the right words. Too much. Too many thoughts, feelings, emotions. So much sadness. For your kids. Your family. My kids. Me. And mostly for you.💔
You loved me so well, Dave. You loved your kids and your people so deeply.
Your heart was far too big for this world… and I was the lucky one who got to see and experience the magnitude and depth of your infinite love.
To be the recipient of so much of that love will forever be one of my life’s greatest gifts.
I’m ready to wake up from this nightmare. I’m ready for you to come back. I miss your hugs, your sweet words, your endless jokes… I miss your soul.
Bask in the peace, my best friend. Let it surround you. See your light. Feel the love that you are. Recognize your infinite worth that we’ve always been witness to.
I love you forever and always, David Marshall Hollis. Every single bit of you. I’m so proud of all that you were on this earth, and all you will continue to become.✨
I will spend my life counting down the days until our souls can rejoice and connect once again.❤️
