In yet more good news for President Donald Trump and the Republican Party headed into the 2026 midterms, Hispanic Americans have, according to new polling, shifted firmly back behind Trump, with his operation to capture Maduro apparently leading to a massively increased level of support for him and his policies from that demographic.
Such is important because the president needs to hold onto Congress to get his agenda completed, and doing so will mean he needs to hold onto districts in states like Texas and Nevada that have many Hispanic voters, who could go either way in 2026 and help tilt the election toward either party, if won over en masse. Further, as the Hispanic demographic is growing, winning it sets the scene for future victories.
Rasmussen is the polling firm that found the good news for President Trump. According to a report from it in late January of 2026, a poll of Hispanic voters found that 53 percent of them approve of the president, while 45 percent disapprove. That is a massive, 28-point improvement from December, when his net approval with the group stood at a whopping negative 20 points. However, it is still something of a decline from when over 60 percent of Hispanics supported him in the spring of 2025.
Republican National Committee (RNC) National Press Secretary Kiersten Pels, commenting on the Hispanic support situation in a statement to Newsweek, told the outlet, “Republicans are making steady gains with Hispanic voters by focusing on jobs, public safety, and the cost of living.”
California Republican politician Mike Netter, drawing attention to the news on X, said, “New Poll revealed as President Trump continues his aggressive mass deportation policy, his highest approval rating by far is with Hispanic voters (54%). There’s a message in there somewhere about the real nature of illegal immigration from the people who know more about it than anyone else.”
Continuing, he noted that the poll appears to show that legal immigrants are in favor of crackdowns on illegal immigration, saying, “Trump’s approval among Hispanics just SKYROCKETED +28 points, Hispanic Trump Approval at 54% per Rasmussen. Rasmussen’s poll numbers prove the obvious: Legal Americans demand enforcement!”
Concluding by noting what else the poll could show for Trump and Republicans, he said, “Mass deportation isn’t chaos—it’s consequence. Break the law, face removal. Want to contribute? Enter legally. Polls show overwhelmingly 83% back deporting criminal illegals. Let’s go, the Fake News is miserably failing with their relentless attacks on the deportations.”

Agreeing with him, one commenter said, “The quickest way to make a legal immigrants despise the modern left is to tell them, while claiming moral superiority, that their time, effort and money coming to America the proper way, is just white supremacy with extra steps, while the people who scammed their way in are actually the real victims here.”
Another, commenting on the massive leap in support, said, “It should. Hispanic citizens seem to be the primary demographic potentially hurt by the presence of illegal aliens – and Trump is reversing the Biden/Harris mess.” Yet another wrote, “An obvious indication that those that came here legally, and even moreso their descendants, do not appreciate those that didn’t, whether they’re originally from the same culture or not. No one likes those that cut in line. 🤬🤬🤬”
