Speaking during an awesome interview on Fox News Channel’s “The Five” on January 28, First Lady Melania Trump explained how her son, Barron Trump, now 19 years old, was involved with the 2024 Trump campaign and how he has developed as a political actor since the first Trump presidential campaign in 2015 and 2016.
As background, President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign saw the president appearing on podcasts and other non-establishment media shows to appeal to the young white male demographic, something that helped him win the election and a strategy in which Barron Trump was reportedly intimately involved, helping formulate the strategy.
President Trump has credited Barron with getting him to go on podcasts and deciding what shows tto go on. For example, when he appeared on Adin Ross’s show, the president explained that Barron was the one who convinced him to do so, saying, “My son’s told me about you, and they told me about how big, he said, ‘Dad, he’s really big.’”
Similarly, when speaking to a crowd of reporters in another incident, the president noted that Barron is the one who “recommended” to him to go do an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan and “some of the other people,” meaning his other podcast and YouTube show appearances.
Joking about Barron pressuring him to go on those shows, the president said he, at one point, has to ask, “Who is that?” to which Barron said, “Dad, you gotta be kidding, I can’t believe you don’t know… and I did those interviews.” He added that “it was actually sort of cute if you wanna know the truth, and that had an impact.”
In any case, such is about what Melania spoke when she appeared on “The Five” to discuss what went on with Barron and how he has developed politically, noting that her son is involved and discusses political issues with the president, his father. “[Barron] understands now, he’s involved,” the First Lady explained. She added, “He knows what’s going on in the world. He talks with his dad. He talks with me.”
Continuing, Melania noted that Barron had been deeply involved in the campaign and helped his father decide on shows on which it would be worth his taking the time to appear, as those were outside the president’s specialty. She said, “He was very involved in the campaign. He gave him all of the ideas, who he needs to talk to, all of these YouTubers and podcasts. So he was, really, a smart mind behind it.”

Commenters on a White House post about what Melania said praised Barron, saying things like, “Barron helped quite a bit with younger voters. He was the brains behind the President appearing on podcasts” and “That’s great to hear, he’s really stepped up and become more involved over time.” Others were similarly positive, saying things like “A sharp mind like Barron’s is crucial for strong leadership. Future looks bright” and “The best is yet to come. Baron will be the crowd favorite by far.”
