Purple State Democrat Caught Requiring ID for His Political Events, While Campaigning against the SAVE Act

Republicans in Congress are attempting to pass the SAVE Act, which would require potential voters show a photo ID to vote, and Democrats like Sens. Chuck Schumer and Jamie Raskin have come out swinging against the law, which they have ridiculously described as racist and sexist. Also opposing the law is Georgia Democrat Jon Ossoff, who was caught, however, requiring those attending his political events to show a photo ID.

As background, many Republicans contend that the SAVE Act, or something like it, is necessary because of allegations of voter fraud, as requiring aspiring voters to show a photo ID makes it much harder for the fraud to occur. Democrats have fought tooth and nail against the measure despite the fact that it is broadly popular.

The SAVE Act would, in its present form, require that voters not just provide photo ID when voting, but would also require that they show proof of American citizenship both while voting and when registering to vote. Further, it would require states conduct stricter audits of their voter rolls.

President Trump has been staunchly behind the potential measure, saying, for example, in a post on Truth Social, “I am asking all Republicans to fight for the following: SAVE AMERICA ACT! 1. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW VOTER ID (IDENTIFICATION!). 2. ALL VOTERS MUST SHOW PROOF OF UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP TO REGISTER FOR VOTING. 3. NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS (EXCEPT FOR ILLNESS, DISABILITY, MILITARY, OR TRAVEL!).”

In any case, the hypocrisy of Sen. Ossoff was revealed in a post by the Mike Collins War Room X account, which serves as a campaign account for that staunchly MAGA Georgia congressman and aspiring senator, which posted a picture of a campaign event email from the Ossoff campaign in which aspiring attendees were told to bring a photo ID. That came despite the fact that Ossoff has attacked voter ID and the SAVE Act, saying, “This is a nakedly partisan, totally unworkable, bad-faith bill cynically intended to disenfranchise millions of eligible voters.”

The email said, “We are excited to welcome you to attend the Rally for Our Republic in Atlanta with Jon Ossoff on Saturday, February 7th! Here’s everything you need to know: This invitation is non-transferable and is intended for the recipient of the invitation only. Due to security requirements, only confirmed RSVPs will be granted access to the event and a matching government-issued photo ID will be verified against the RSVP list by name to enter.”

Posting about what was shown by that email, the Mike Collins campaign account said, “Jon Ossoff is about to vote against the SAVE Act, but is requiring a government-issued ID to get into his rally in Atlanta tomorrow. There should be more security in American elections than there is to listen to Jon Ossoff’s lies.”

Further, his campaign, in a statement to Fox News Digital, said, “Typical Jon Ossoff to say one thing and do another. It’s ridiculous that Jon Ossoff would require a government ID to listen to him speak about why you shouldn’t need a government ID to vote.”
