Well, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy might be ready to revert to form and let down the conservative base to appease Swamp Creatures and Deep State hacks. How so? By not releasing the January 6th tapes as promised.
That story comes from investigative journalist Laura Loomer, who said “I’ve been told @SpeakerMcCarthy
isn’t planning to release all of the J6 footage like he promised. He told members of Congress that it’s a “national security risk” to release the raw footage.J6 defendants who want it have to ask their rep to issue a written request on their behalf.”
Twitter personality Chuck Callesto then amplified that story on Twitter, saying “BREAKING REPORT: Rumors now swirling that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy WILL NOT release all of the J6 footage AS PROMISED WHEN ELECTED SPEAKER, claims it would be a Risk to National Security..”

That news comes as people on Twitter question why McCarthy has yet to release the January 6th footage and press those who supported McCarthy only for him to start backsliding and letting down the base near immediately.
One commenter, for example, said: “If Marjorie Taylor Greene lets her man Kevin McCarthy BACKSTAB myself and hundreds of January 6th defendants by REFUSING to release the footage, the Republican Party will die and never come back!”
Another said “Good morning and happy Sunday to everyone still waiting on Kevin McCarthy to release the 14,000 hours of Jan 6th video.”
Speaker McCarthy previously promised, shortly after being elected Speaker of the House, that he would release the January 6th footage. Reporting on those comments of his at the time he made them, we at The American Tribune reported:
According to Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, the full security footage from January 6th, much of which has been kept hidden, will soon be released.
That came when McCarthy, while in the Capitol, was asked about releasing the footage by a reporter who said “… last Congress called on Speaker Pelosi at the time to release the, the adjacent Capitol security footage of all things that happened on that day. Is that something that you’d be interested in doing? Congressman Gates said that he said that you would be willing to do that did that?”
McCarthy, somewhat surprisingly, said, “Yeah, I think the public should see what has happened on that.”
Continuing, he went on to say that he would not act like former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and politicize the footage but would release it in a thoughtful manner, saying:
“I’ve watched what Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it. Were for the first time in the history as a speaker, not allowing the minority to appoint to a committee to pick and choose. We watched the politicization of this, I think the American public should actually see all what happened instead of a report that’s written for political basis. And I think the answer we’re looking through that I want to be very thoughtful about it, but yes, I’m engaged to do that.“

But, as could be predicted, now that it comes to actually doing it, Speaker McCarthy might be backing down. And, even if he doesn’t end up backing down to the Deep State and does release the footage, why has it taken this long? And if McCarthy does intend on releasing the footage, why has he not already done so?
