In an absurd rant at the Washington Press Club Foundation’s 80th Annual Congressional Dinner (designed to honor women in journalism, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) delivered remarks warning that the First Amendment and free press face threats under the current administration.
What kicked the cacaphony of criticism directed Pelosi’s way came because the unhinged progressive described America as in a “crisis of conscience,” accusing President Trump of having “crowned himself king,” Congress of having “abolished itself,” and the Supreme Court of having “gone rogue.”
Pelosi tied this alleged attack on journalism, including the massive recent media layoffs like at The Washington Post, to supposed efforts to undermine democracy, emphasizing the press’s essential role. Her comments drew sharp conservative backlash as out-of-touch or hypocritical, given her past tenure and wealth.
“Today we are again witnessing actions meant to chill the First Amendment’s most fundamental freedoms. Let us be clear, attacks on journalism are attacks on the American people’s right to know and attempts to undermine a free press are attempts to undermine the Constitution and democracy itself,” the irritating Democrat raved in the opening moments of her rant.
Doubting, down, Pelosi cynically declared, “That is why tonight is not only a celebration but is a reminder, a solemn reminder that we must protect and defend the freedom, and we must insist on the truth because America is in a crisis of conscience.”
Concluding her comments with an absurd accusation, she alleged, “We have a president who has crowned himself king, Congress which has abolished itself, and a Supreme Court that has gone rogue. Our First Amendment of free and independent press, the Fourth Estate, it’s essential to survival of our Republic.”
Adding a melodramatic caption to this clip in a post to X, the suspiciously wealthy former politician added, “America is in a crisis of conscience. We have a President who has crowned himself king, a Congress which has abolished itself and a Supreme Court that has gone rogue. Our First Amendment, a free and independent press, is essential to the survival of our Republic.”

In the comments under the post, users blasted the out-of-touch California Democrat. “You are one of the most corrupt,” quipped one comment. Another conservative stated, “Supreme Court eroding checks? You mean finally upholding the Constitution instead of your activist judges? Pelosi’s just salty because her power grab days are over.”
“Nobody wants to hear a word you say anymore. You’ve enriched yourself on knowledge the common citizen cannot legally have. We are done letting you influence anything,” a dismissive response declared. Another comment joked, “You’re one of the biggest problems in Washington, Nancy. Go home and have another drink.”

Firing back, a comment stated, “Actually, we finally have an administration that upholds the Constitution and is working for all Americans. You, Pelosi, worked for your portfolio and nothing else.” Agreeing with another asserted, “You’re just pissed off because YOU LOST! We, the people, have VOTED for this! Under your tenure, the world’s greatest country has been nearly destroyed. You, however, got super rich.”
