Actress and model Sydney Sweeney, the bombshell beauty of her generation, once again made headlines when she and her team draped lingerie from her new brand, SYRN, on the famous “HOLLYWOOD” sign in the hills outside Los Angeles without having first obtained a proper permit for doing so.
As a reminder, Sweeney has become something of a hearthrob not only for America generally but for the online right, as she refused to apologize for her “Sydney Sweeney has good jeans/genes” ad after it went viral online and angered the left, which promptly claimed that it was “racist” and demanded she apologize. Further, Sweeney is apparently a registered Republican and has angered leftists in Hollywood with her conservative politics.
In any case, she is releasing a new lingerie brand that, according to Cosmopolitan, comes in 44 sizes, ranging from 30B to 42DDD, and most of the styles retail for under $100. Further, Cosmopolitan reported, the overall line is broken into four core “personas” that are somewhat different styles: Comfy, Playful, Romantic, and Seductress.
Commenting on why she decided to create and release the line in a press release, Cosmopolitan also reported, Sweeney said, “I was in the 6th grade with DDs. I hated the bra I had to wear. When I bought my first cute bra that actually fit, I wore it to pieces. Designing for different bodies is a huge part of SYRN.”
Further, she added, commenting on her hobbies and personality, “I wanted to create a place where women can move between all the different versions of who we are. I love working on cars, I go water skiing, I’ll dress up for the red carpet then go home to snuggle my dogs. I’m not one thing, no woman is.”
It was to support the release of that new line and some of the various “persona” pieces that Sweeney covered the HOLLYWOOD sign with bras. As shown in a video she posted on Instagram, she and her team snuck up to the famous sign in the cover of darkness, and tossed bras over the sign’s huge letters. Given her famously large bust, the incident quickly went viral online

As could be predicted, the local authorities were unhappy. It is the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce that technically owns the intellectual property rights to the Hollywood sign and its image, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce requires that a “license or permission” be obtained by those who want to use the sign for commercial purposes. Those who don’t get such permission can face legal repercussions, as it appears Sweeney might.
Getting such a license apparently never happened, and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Steve Nissen snapped, in a statement on the matter, “The production involving Sydney Sweeney and the Hollywood Sign, as reported by TMZ, was not authorized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce nor did we have prior knowledge of it.”
He added, “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce owns the intellectual property rights to the image of the Hollywood Sign, so that anyone intending to use and/or access the Hollywood Sign for commercial purposes must obtain a license or permission from the Hollywood Chamber to do so. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce did not grant a license or permission of any kind to the production involving Sydney Sweeney as reported by TMZ, nor did anyone seek a license or permission from the Chamber for that production.”
