In yet another unintentionally entertaining moment out of the left, both Senate Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) had total public meltdowns about Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem, with Jeffries having his on an interview and Schumer having his on X.
As background, both Schumer and Jeffries were upset by Secretary Noem strongly standing in defense of and supporting ICE and Border Patrol agents in the wake of another deadly shooting, Secretary Noem both stood resolutely in defense of her agents after the fatal shooting of Renee Good during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation and the more recent, separate shooting of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol officers after Pretti’s gun went off during a scuffle with officers.
As the Pretti shooting occurred more recently, and Noem again stood by the officers involved, it was what most set off both Schumer and Jeffries as they demanded that she be fired or face impeachment for how she is running DHS. Schumer, for his part, did so in an angry and impotent tweet in which he wrote, “Kristi Noem is a liar. Kristi Noem is incompetent. Kristi Noem is vicious. Kristi Noem must be fired.”
Jeffries, for his part, freaked out during an appearance on MS NOW’s “Chris Jansing Reports” on Tuesday, January 27. He began, “Kristi Noem is a despicable, corrupt, pathological liar. We’ve seen her slander, not just one, but two American citizens, patriotic Americans who were killed without justification on the streets of Minneapolis in the last few weeks.”
Continuing, the rage-filled and absurd-seeming House Minority Leader went on to insist, “She’s deeply unqualified. She never should have been confirmed to begin with by Senate Republicans and House Democrats have called for her to be fired immediately. And in the event that she is not terminated, we are prepared to initiate impeachment proceedings against her in the House of Representatives.”
Jansing, chiming in, noted that President Trump has shown no indication that he’s going to fire Noem, and that the Democrats are in the minority and so unable to do anything of note. She said, “Well, the president has given no indication that he’s ready to fire her or even thinking about it. And you, as I don’t need to tell you, are in the minority.”
Using that to ask what Democrats are going to actually do rather than just impotently whine about the situation, Jansing asked, “So how do you do that? I mean, what can you do? Have you spoken to the speaker? Do you have any sense that there are Republicans who would stand by you in an impeachment process?”

Jeffries, for his part, suggested that RINOs could be counted on to betray their party and help Democrats attack Noem for standing by her officers. He said, “We have to build the case so that we can convince a handful of Republicans, as we have done on other issues, that the time is now to hold the Department of Homeland Security accountable for their behavior.”
Concluding, Jeffries ridiculously claimed that ICE is acting “like a paramilitary organization”, ignoring that it has been continually and repeatedly attacked and obstructed by gangs of leftist agitators and has remained, overall, quite restrained in the face of that. He said, “They are conducting themselves like a paramilitary organization as opposed to protecting the health, the safety and the well-being of the American people.”
