Blue City Harshly Punishes Teacher Over Pro-ICE Post

In yet another infuriating and unfair story out of a deep blue city, a public school teacher who posted a message on social media in support of ICE and its mission has been placed on leave and is facing calls to lose his job, all over the post in support of the legal actions of the duly elected President of the United States and the federal agents at his command.

The incident began, reports of the matter note, when the teacher, who works at West Chicago’s Gary Elementary School but has been generally unnamed for safety reasons, posted on Facebook in mid-January and merely said, “GO ICE”. That message came alongside spiralling chaos in Minnesota, where anti-ICE rioters had been attacking ICE agents in a major way.

Predictably, activists in the area, which is a predominantly Hispanic community, went totally berserk when the post was revealed, with a slew of activists sharing the post to draw attention to it and calling for the teacher to be fired over the pro-ICE post.

The online outrage was absurd. For example, Fox News Digital reported, in its report on the matter, noted that one of the angry social media responses to the teacher’s post was, “Imagine working as a teacher in an elementary school in West Chicago where the Latino community is highly populated and promoting ICE, sick AF.”

The activists also tried to attack the teacher through a Change.org petition calling for the school to fire the teacher. That petition, which so far has somewhat less than 400 verified signatures, began, “This week, a D33 teacher commented, ‘Go ICE!’ in response to a community article. The casual way in which he publicly promoted the actions of ICE in our area is inappropriate and unsuitable for an educator.”

Continuing, the berserk petition claimed that ICE has “harmed” families in the community by enforcing immigration law, using that claim to then justify trying to harass and ruin the life of the pro-ICE teacher. The petition said, “ICE has actively harmed the families in our area, including the students he is tasked to care for daily. The best way to show our district that we need action to be taken- is to show them that keeping this teacher will disrupt the emotional welfare and therefore, the education of our students.”

The petition concluded by calling for people to push the district to fire the teacher, and to encourage students to not show up to school. It said, “Share this graphic with all D53 parents and the surrounding areas to join the cause! Make sure you email the district at [email protected] that your child is marked absent for this reason to make the biggest impact. Additionally, please consider signing this community petition using the QR code to show the district that you do not stand for this teacher continuing to educate.”

The school appears to have tried to get the teacher to resign, and ended up putting him on administrative leave. In a statement to Fox News Digital, it said, “On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the District learned of concerns regarding a disruptive social media comment made by a District employee on his personal account. The teacher initially submitted his resignation. Later that day, he withdrew his resignation before the Board had an opportunity to take action.”

Continuing, the statement provided, “Following a meeting with District administration today, the employee involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and will not be permitted on any District property while on leave.”

It then said, “We understand that this situation has raised concerns and caused disruption for students, families, and staff. We want to ensure our schools are safe spaces, and we look forward to seeing all students back in school tomorrow. Thank you for your patience, trust, and partnership during the ongoing investigation.”
