In a rare public political comment, First Lady Melania Trump called on the nation to unify after violent anti-ICE riots had flared up across the country. Specifically, she called for peaceful protests and mentioned that President Trump had productive comments with local leadership.
For context, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt broke down the details of the call in a lengthy post to social media. As part of the demands from the Trump administration, Trump asked for all illegal immigrants in prisons to be turned over to ICE.
Starting off with a clear message, the first lady stated, “We need to unify. I’m calling for unity. I know my husband, the president, had a great call yesterday with the governor and the mayor, and they’re working together to make it peaceful and without riots. I’m against the violence. So if, please, if we protest, protest in peace.”
In a lengthy post, Karoline Leavitt shared the president’s plan for Minnesota, including Melania’s message as part of that. “President Trump spoke with Governor Walz directly this morning and outlined a clear and simple path to restoring law and order in Minnesota,” she announced.
“Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, and all Democrat leaders should turn over all criminal illegal aliens currently incarcerated in their prisons and jails to federal authorities, along with any illegal aliens with active warrants or known criminal histories for immediate deportation,” she began, adding, “State and local law enforcement must agree to turn over all illegal aliens arrested by local police.”
Demanding a significant change, she posted, “Local police must assist federal law enforcement in apprehending and detaining illegal aliens wanted for crimes. ICE and local law enforcement can peacefully work together, as they are effectively doing in so many other states and jurisdictions, to remove violent criminals from American neighborhoods.”
Building on this point, Leavitt announced, “Additionally, President Trump is calling on the United States Congress to immediately pass legislation ending sanctuary cities once and for all. American cities should be safe sanctuaries for law-abiding citizens only — not for dangerous illegal alien criminals who broke our laws and do not belong here.”

“We hope Governor Walz will do the right thing and work with President Trump to keep the American people safe, the SPOX declared, “Americans overwhelmingly want exactly what President Trump is delivering: strong borders and strict immigration enforcement against the worst criminal illegal aliens, of which there are still hundreds of thousands to deport from the interior of our Country.”
Turning her attention to the biased media coverage, she stated, “You wouldn’t know it from the biased media coverage, but polls show huge support for this very thing — more than 80 percent of Americans favor deporting illegal aliens convicted of violent crimes.”

Wrapping up her commentary with a promise, she vowed, “The most peaceful way to carry out this vital public safety mission is for Republicans and Democrats to do it together and for local and state law enforcement to work with federal law enforcement. President Trump will never back down from his promise to deport violent criminal illegal aliens and Make America Safe Again.”
