Julie Banderas is an anchor for Fox News Channel. On FNC, she first hosted “Fox Report Weekend” before moving from it into a weekday role and becoming a fill-in anchor for numerous FNC programs. In that role, she anchors for programs like “America’s Newsroom,” “The Faulkner Focus,” and “Outnumbered.” She also appears as a guest on numerous FNC programs, including its late-night comedy hit, “Gutfeld!.”
It was on that show that Banderas revealed the horrifying backstory behind her divorce and dislike of Valentine’s Day.
Speaking to Greg Gutfeld about those topics, Banderas said “F**k Valentine’s Day. Yeah, it’s stupid. Even when I was married, I didn’t get s**t for Valentine’s Day… well, I’m getting a divorce, I’m going to go ahead and say it right here for the first time.”
She also said, when commenting on her dislike of Valentine’s Day, “It’s a Hallmark holiday, it’s stupid. I mean, it’s just absolutely ridiculous.” Watch her here:
Apparently, the divorce stems from an incident involving Banderas’ ex-husband flying into a rage and holding a knife to her throat after she ate some of the mashed potatoes he had prepared for their children’s dinner. The Daily Mail, reporting on that incident, said:
Andrew Sansone, 55, was arrested and charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors, for the incident at their home in the Hamptons the night of December 14, according to papers filed in Southampton town court.
He allegedly flew into a rage after she ate mashed potatoes he had prepared for the children’s dinner, documents show.
The Fox anchor, 49, claimed he grabbed a knife from the kitchen and pointed the blade at her neck, causing her to fear for her life, the police report states.
Their children, ages 6, 10 and 12, were reportedly elsewhere in the house at the time.
The Daily Mail goes on to report that Banderas waited five days before calling the cops on Sansone, so the police were able to escort him out of the house while their children were off at school and not home to witness it.
A restraining order was then placed on Sansone that prohibits him from having any contact with Banderas, though he can still visit the children so long as he picks them up curbside.
The Daily Mail report goes on to add that the incident involving the mashed potatoes might not have been the only issue at play in causing the steak knife fight, as the two were aguing about money and custody of the kids as well. In its words:
While the fight was allegedly triggered by her eating potatoes meant for the kids, the report states that the couple had been fighting earlier in the day.
According to the police report, the couple were arguing about money – a common flashpoint as the two battled over their pending divorce and child custody issues, sources told DailyMail.com.
The sources said that Sansone is pursuing primary custody of their kids as well as financial support from his more successful spouse.
