Ian Andre Roberts, an Illegal immigrant, has pleaded guilty to several serious felonies. Last year, Roberts, a former Des Moines Public Schools superintendent, was arrested by ICE in September 2025 while possessing a loaded handgun, cash, and a knife.
For context, the immigrant overstayed a 1999 student visa, had a final removal order (2024), and weapons charges. He was registered as an active Democrat voter in Maryland despite his non-citizen status. In any case, once the news broke on social media, conservatives made dozens of hilarious posts.
Announcing the viral news in a post to social media, a prominent conservative account revealed, “BREAKING: Ian Roberts has entered pleas of guilty to both charged federal counts. No word on sentencing yet.” This new information set off a flurry of hilarious social media commentary.
Reacting to the initial post, one user posted, “My hometown DEI superintendent of schools just pled guilty to federal felony charges for (1) lying to get his job; and (2) being an illegal alien in possession of a firearm. The Des Moines school board really went out of their way to find this gem.”
Adding context, one comment explained, “Iowa state rep Taylor Collins is all up into the Des Moines school district’s business now. They brought this heat onto themselves. They deserve every bit of negative attention they get.”
“It seems as though we have a major issue with school boards in this country. Chauntyll Allen was a school board member in St. Paul, MN,” another post added. Building on this remark, a conservative pointed out, “The Superintendent! Good heavens that is bad. The school board needs to answer/be fired for this.”
Offering a valuable insight, one local woman quipped, “He was in our town prior to this, and we parents tried to tell the school board that something was wrong with this guy. They refused to listen.” Likewise, another citizen of Des Moines said, “Not surprisingly the local media moved on from this pretty quickly. Quite the indefensible stain on the DEI school board.” Baffled, one response asked, “Did the school board even do a Criminal Background check on him ? If no, why not ? Every single one of these folks on the school board should have to answer to the parents of children at the school he worked at.”

At the time of his initial arrest, an official ICE press release noted, “ICE Des Moines arrested Ian Andre Roberts, a criminal illegal alien from Guyana in possession of a loaded handgun, $3,000 in cash and a fixed blade hunting knife.” Providing more details on the bizarre case, the document asserted, “At the time of his arrest, Roberts was working as the Superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools despite being an illegal alien with a final order of removal and no work authorization.”
In conclusion, the press release stated, “Roberts has existing weapon possession charges from February 5, 2020. Roberts entered the United States in 1999 on a student visa and was given a final order of removal by an immigration judge in May of 2024.”
