Speaking from the White House in the same press conference alongside White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in which he announced the new Assistant Attorney General position for cracking down on fraud, Vice President JD Vance warned the nation of a concerted leftist plot to attack ICE agents, saying there is a network of leftists who plot to obstruct and attack ICE.
As background, a woman named Renee Good was shot and killed while attempting to run over an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during a protest targeting ICE agents who are attempting to deal with the fraud-committing Somali migrants in the area.
The shooting of the woman, who most on the right have argued was a leftist agitator who put the ICE agent in a situation where he needed to defend himself with deadly force, sparked an utter outcry from the left, which did its best to suggest that the ICE agent had acted illegally and that Trump has turned out ICE agents to shoot liberal Americans.
Such is what Vice President Vance was attempting to rebut when he spoke to the media from the White House. That came when Fox News Channel White House Correspondent Peter Doocy asked him, “You just suggested that this woman who was killed, Renee Good, is part of a broader left-wing network. Who do you think is behind this broader left-wing network?”
Responding, Vice President Vance noted that these incidents are never as simple as they seem, as there had to be a whole network of support personnel and the like connecting the various leftist agitators and protesters with the resources they used to attack ICE and the various details of the protests.
He said, on that point, “When somebody throws a brick at an ICE agent, or somebody tries to run over an ICE agent, who paid for the brick and who told protesters to show up and engage in violent activity against our law enforcement officers? How did she get there? How did she learn about this?”
Continuing, he noted that the media might be involved in that leftist network, or at least complicit in the anti-ICE efforts, saying, “There’s an entire network, and frankly, some of the media are participating in it that is trying to incite violence against our law enforcement officers. It’s ridiculous. It’s preposterous.”

Concluding, he vowed that the lawbreakers who are attacking ICE will not be able to hide, as the administration is investigating and cracking down on such networks and people. He said, “And part of our investigatory work is getting to the bottom of it: Who’s funding it, who’s supporting it, who’s cheerleading it.” Watch him here:
Further, when pressed on the shooting itself, Vance argued that the shot individual had clearly brought it upon herself, saying, “What you see is what you get. In this case, you have a woman who was trying to obstruct a legitimate law enforcement operation…You have a woman who aimed her car at a law enforcement officer and pressed on the accelerator. Nobody debates that.”
He added that, though death is tragic, this incident was of her own making and it is the radical left that is responsible. He said, “I can believe that her death is a tragedy, while also recognizing that it’s a tragedy of her own making and a tragedy of the far left who is marshaled an entire movement, a lunatic fringe against our law enforcement officers.”
