In a shocking betrayal of conservative voters and the Trump Administration, the House passed a bill 230-196 to revive and extend enhanced Obamacare subsidies for three years, marking a win for Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries after Democrats forced a vote via discharge petition signed by several traitorous Republicans.
For context, seventeen Republicans defied Speaker Mike Johnson and GOP leadership to support it. The slim GOP majority highlights vulnerability in the House, and prospects in the Senate remain dim. President Trump has long said that he wants to scrap or replace Obamacare.
While RINOs are making deals with the DNC, Trump wants to redirect funds directly to Americans through health savings accounts or personal plans, rather than through insurers or subsidies. He has criticized the current plan as broken and slammed it for enriching corporations.
The RINOs who crossed the aisle to betray their voters include Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mike Lawler (R-NY), Rob Bresnahan (R-PA), Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA), Mike Carey (R-OH), Monica De La Cruz (R-TX), and Andrew Garbarino (R-NY). Similarly, Jeff Hurd (R-CO), Dave Joyce (R-OH), Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ), Nick LaLota (R-NY), Max Miller (R-OH), Zach Nunn (R-IO), Maria Salazar (R-FL), Dave Valadao (R-CA), Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), and Rob Wittman (R-VA), joined with Democrats to pass the controversial measure.
Explaining his treachery, alleged Republican congressman Mike Lawler noted, “I am voting in favor of this discharge and of this legislation to send it to the Senate, so that the Senate will have the opportunity to put forth a reform package that can pass Congress and become law.”
Similarly, House representative Brian Fitzpatrick whined, “All of those options were rejected, unfortunately, by House leadership, so it left us with two options – either expiration or clean extension. And clean extension is a far better option, in my view, and that’s why I proceeded down the path that I did.”
The Democrats were pleased by this lack of discipline. “The affordability crisis is not a hoax, it is very real, despite what Donald Trump had to say, ” unpopular House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries whined in a statement: “Today, we have an opportunity to take a meaningful step forward, lower the high cost of living for everyday Americans, particularly as it relates to healthcare.”

Likewise, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer made it clear that this played into his plans. “Democrats are going to make healthcare and other high costs, the high cost of living, the No 1 issue for all of 2026,” he reacted.

Like many conservatives, Rep. Eric Burlison (R-CO), was beside himself with rage. “17 Republicans joined Democrats to extend fiscally insane, temporary Biden COVID subsidies for corporate healthcare giants. It’s a betrayal of taxpayers and an extremely poor substitute for the real health care reform that the American people deserve,” he posted.
Pointing out another angle, one conservative woman noted, “🚨 BETRAYAL: 17 Republicans just voted with EVERY Democrat to extend Obamacare subsidies for 3 years—forcing YOU to fund abortion. No Hyde protections = Taxpayer funded abortions up until birth. Unacceptable.”
