Yet again burnishing her credentials as America’s most buffoonish member of Congress, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) went ballistic in an incoherent ramble about the Trump Administration’s tariffs, declaring that Trump is a “con man” and that using the tariffs to protect American industry while returning the money to Americans is a bad idea.
For reference, President Trump has mainly described and used the tariffs as a way of protecting American industry so that there are good domestic jobs for American workers, rather than as a means by which he can raise the revenues brought in by the federal government. As such, he has promoted ideas like the tariff dividend checks, which would return most of the money raised by them to Americans, while still helping protect the domestic economy.
In one such recent Truth Social post showing what his focus is regarding tariffs, the president said, “Tariffs are creating GREAT WEALTH, and unprecedented National Security for the USA. Trade deficit has been cut by 60%, totally unheard of. 4.3% GDP, and going way up. No inflation!!! We are respected as a Country again.”
In any case, Rep. Crockett, who will soon be running for a Senate seat in Texas, totally lost her mind over the tariffs when speaking on MS NOW’s “All In” program on Friday, December 26. Doing so, she snapped, in her fury-filled and mostly inchogerent ramble, “I think it’s because people finally understand that these are taxes that we’re paying for, right.”
Continuing, she confused GOP hostility to the income and death tax with a dislike for tariffs, which were a characteristic policy of Republican administrations, such as during the McKinley Administration. She said, “Like, and I don’t think, especially if you’re a traditional Republican, you usually are anti-tax. So the idea that, you know, you’ve got this Republican president and all he’s doing is adding taxes for people at a time when they’re struggling.”
Turning from that to complaints about DOGE and the tariffs, she snapped, “Then he continues to say, ‘Hey, we’re going to give you a refund check for the tariffs.’ And I just want to remind people that he had promised people that they were going to get a $5,000 check when it came to DOGE. And, well, those checks never arrived. And then he announced that there would be tariff checks. And well, those checks too haven’t arrived.”
Adding to that, she falsely claimed that the troops haven’t gotten their bonus checks yet, saying, “And then he announced that he was going to do something for our service members. I don’t know if those checks are arriving or not, but he claimed that it was out of the tariffs, and yet again, it was not going to be out of the tariffs.”

Then, Crockett insisted that Trump is a “con man,” ridiculously claiming, “He was going to take more money that had already been designated and appropriated specifically for our service members, and just readjust the pocket of money that it was coming from. So, I mean, I think that people are understanding that it’s not good to have a con man as the commander-in-chief, and people are frustrated because they know that the cost of everything is going up.”
