In a truly bizzare incident, former Múzquiz mayor Tania Flores Guerra, a member of the MORENA party in Mexico, who is under investigation for corruption, including bizarre heavy equipment rentals and illegal contract assignments during her 2022-2024 term, barricaded herself in a courthouse bathroom in Sabinas, Coahuila, for over an hour to avoid a judge-ordered appearance in Saltillo On December 16, 2025
As part of her meltdown, she live-streamed the incident, alleging political persecution by Governor Manolo Jiménez. Female agents finally removed her and transported her to the hearing. Reacting to the incident, Coahuila’s anti-corruption prosecutor clarified it was a mandated appearance, not an arrest, after she ignored prior citations.
Reacting to the bizarre situation, Tania Flores Guerra was recorded “claiming that the issue was an intimidation tactic.” Additionally, a local reporter alleged, “She told her followers that she was a victim of political prosecution and that she didn’t know if the state governor was out to get her.”
Providing context, the same source stated, “Flores is from Mexico’s ruling party, MORENA, and has repeatedly claimed that the allegations against her come from individuals in other political parties in Mexico.”
Reacting to the allegations of a political prosecution, state attorney general Federico Fernández Montañez, said, “That’s not true. This is not a partisan issue. It is an issue that may end in parties of another affiliation and there are processes. It must be made very clear: it is not a partisan issue and is now in the judicial field”.
Adding anothertake in a translate post to social media, one spanish language outlet recounted, “Before leaving the #Múzquiz town hall, Morena supporter Tania Flores Guerra organized a City Council session to favor her brother, the local deputy from the Labor Party, Antonio Flores Guerra, with a package of benefits that includes business licenses, land use permits, and the conversion of rural land into urban areas,” adding, What a Christmas and end-of-year gift, and without even needing a letter!”
However, this Mexican mayor is far from the only mayor accused of corruption in recent months. As we reported previously the American Tribune, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) explained House Homeland Security and Judiciary Committees were investigating Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell (D) for obstructing ICE operations, and aiding illegal immigrants.

“Well, you’ve heard it. The individuals that the mayor is standing with are murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, sexual predators, child traffickers, the list goes on, which is why I will always stand on the rule of law and with ICE,” Rep. Andy Ogles announced.
Making his allegations clear, the Republican stated, “I don’t just stand with ICE. I’ll stand in front of ICE because we, the people, have had enough. I choose my community, my state and my family over this type of nonsense, which is why, due to the remarks of Freddie O’Connell and the potential for aiding and embedding illegal immigration, the Homeland Security and the judiciary committees will be conducting an investigation into the Mayor of Nashville.”
Concluding his comments, Ogles noted, “His conduct and whether or not federal dollars have been used in criminal enterprise, I will not back down. I will not relent, and I will always stand with law enforcement. I want my community, and I want my country back.”
