RINO Who Helped Dems Try to Impeach Trump Finally Retires

In yet more good news for MAGA Republicans in the months leading up to the 2026 midterm elections, yet another RINO representative has finally retired, announcing that he will not be running for re-election in 2026 and is finally retiring. That is Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), infamous for having voted alongside Democrats to impeach President Trump in 2021.

As a reminder, there were 10 total Republicans in the House of Representatives who voted to impeach the president in that attempt to take him out. Newhouse was one of them. The others were Reps. David Valadao (R-CA), Liz Cheney (R-WY), Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), Jaime Herrera-Beutler (R-WA), John Katko (R-NY), Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Peter Meijer (R-MI), Tom Rice (R-SC), and Fred Upton (R-MI). Of those, only Newhouse and Valadao is left, meaning that Valadao will be the only one left after 2026 if he can win re-election, and none will be if he loses.

In any case, announcing his decision to retire in a press release promulgated by his office on Wednesday, December 17, Rep. Newhouse said, “I am announcing today that I will not seek reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives. Serving the Fourth District of Washington has been the honor of my life, and this decision comes with no reservations or remorse, only gratitude for the tremendous opportunity to have represented my home state in Congress.”

Continuing, he noted that he has been an elected official for over a decade, writing, “After over 25 years of public service, including more than a decade in the House, I am grateful to the Washingtonians who put their faith in me, as well as the colleagues I have served with on both sides of the aisle.”

Continuing, he claimed that he will continue serving, though failing to note how he will do so, and indicated that there is already someone waiting in the wings to take his place. He said, “Public service takes many forms. As I look forward to this new chapter and ways I can continue to serve my community and this great Nation, I do so with confidence that there are now qualified and serious people expressing interest in this office. Central Washington will have a strong, capable leader to whom I can pass the torch.”

Then, thanking his family members and others in vague terms, he said, “I thank my family for their steadfast love and support which allowed me this opportunity to serve. I am truly humbled by this uniquely American journey that took a farm boy from Sunnyside, Washington clear across the country to represent his friends and neighbors in the ‘other’ Washington.”

Concluding, he indicated that he will not be retiring early, but rather will continue in Congress in through the end of his term rather than quitting ahead of time. He said, “I will continue to serve my district with energy and enthusiasm until the end of my term. God bless America and God bless the people of the Fourth District of Washington.”

Trump skewered Newhouse on Truth Social in August of 2024, writing, “Tiffany Smiley is a tremendous America First Candidate running to represent the Great People of Washington’s 4th Congressional District! . . . Likewise, Jerrod Sessler, who I have Endorsed in the past, would be fantastic, fighting for the same things that Tiffany, and I, want for our Country. They are both running against a weak and pathetic RINO, Dan Newhouse, who stupidly voted to impeach me for absolutely no reason, and he now strongly wishes he didn’t make that Decision. The other Impeachers are mostly all gone, a good thing for the U.S.A”
