Secretary of War Pete Hegseth posted a nostalgic photo from his time in Iraq, earning strong support for prioritizing soldiers and restoring high standards. Particularly, commenters praised his leadership, dismissed Democratic attacks on anti-drug operations as baseless, and accused critics of weakening America for globalist interests.
For context, many cynical Democrats have seized on Secretary Hegseth’s anti-drug operations in the Caribbean as a way to attack him and the rest of the Trump administration. Some of these dishonorable actors have tried to cast strikes on drug-running boats as war crimes, specifically mentioning “double-tap” attacks where targets are hit twice in a short span of time.
Starting off, the Secretary of War posted a picture taken while serving in the Middle East. “Our platoon. 20 years ago, today. Baghdad, Iraq. Pre-air assault raid. These men. Our mission. The brotherhood. It’s always top of mind. Every day. At @DeptofWar we serve warriors like these — and will do right by them, especially when it’s hard,” Pete Hegseth said.
Reacting to the tweet, a popular conservative said, “If there’s 1 thing I can say about Pete’s new policies, it’s that he’s constantly putting soldiers first. This is why the media attacks him. They want a weak military that pumps out trillions in foreign wars. President Trump and Pete want peace deals, a strong military, and to protect *our* borders for a change.”
In the comments under this post, conservatives responded with an outpouring of support. “I’m very please that they changed the name back to War Department. As the ‘Department of Defense’ they weren’t even allowed to ‘defense’ the borders of the USA. 😬” one comment said.
Agreeing, another user complimented the original photo saying, “That’s an awesome picture… And Pete Hegseth is doing an awesome job, particularly putting soldiers first, making them ready for war, cutting the crap, and holding high standards.” Addressing the baseless allegations against the Secretary of War, another commenter said, “Democrats are more angry at killing drug traffickers than they are at the hundreds of thousands of Americans dying of drug overdoses.”
Expressing the common sentiment, one user reacted, “As a former military, I am proud to have Secretary Hegseth leading our troops. He’s the first secretary I can remember that is in shape and is setting the example from the top.”

Offering an alternate theory about why the left is so intent on dismantling Hegseth’s authority, a comment suggested, “This is not the reason they are attacking him. They are attacking him because if you have someone that is strong and decisive in command during a color revolution then that color revolution will be shut down with precedence.” Continuing, the same commenter wrote, “Every color revolution that had a strong head of the military was shut down throughout all of history because that leader will act with impunity to silence said revolution. They are scared of him.”
Angered by the biased coverage, a response noted, “All they want to do is weaken our country. They are controlled by the globalists who are deathly afraid of us reaching our full potential as a country, and thus becoming the most powerful nation on the planet, by a long shot.”
