Rumors are abounding in the United Kingdom that the entity’s official church, the Church of England, was strongly considering moving away from using male pronouns to depict God. This is the latest, perhaps inevitable, infection of wokeism as church leaders are said to be persuaded by the argument of being more “inclusive.”
The official church of the monarchy, begun under King Henry VIII so that he could divorce his wives, is one of the world’s largest Protestant denominations with over 25 million adherents.
Reporting by Complex stated that the Church of England would begin a review process slated to begin no later than the end of 2023 to both examine and update the church’s teachings and messaging.
Rev Dr. Michael Ipgrave, Bishop of Lichfield and vice-chair of the liturgical commission, said that his work would focus on “gendered language” and that ultimately any final recommendations would “require a full Synodical process” prior to adoption.
“After some dialogue between the two Commissions in this area, a new joint project on gendered language will begin this spring,” Ipgrave said. “In common with other potential changes to authorised liturgical provision, changing the wording and number of authorised forms of absolution would require a full Synodical process for approval.”
Still, while there are formalities within the process, that hasn’t deterred some church leaders and bishops from already moving away from gendered language. The New York Post wrote that “[s]ome priests have already made such changes, trading references to ‘he’ and ‘him’ for simply ‘God’ or even ‘they’ and ‘them,’ and rewriting the “Our Father” that starts the Lord’s Prayer to ‘Our Father and Mother.’”
Another Reverend for the church openly declared “God is not male. Certainly not the white cis male with a beard, sitting on a cloud we seem to reduce and limit God to so often.” He even said in 2018 that “[a]ll human language about God is inadequate and to some degree metaphorical.”
The New York Post also quoted the Archbishop of Canterbury as saying, “God is not male or female” nor is He “definable.”
Of course, only secular, affluent, educated people can arrive at such nonsensical, blasphemous, and stupid conclusions.
Renowned Jewish speaker, author, and talk show host Dennis Prager has already laid out the most fundamental argument for why God is depicted – not is, but depicted – as male. In a PragerU video, he clearly outlines the logic behind the reasoning.
“The God of the Bible is neither male nor female. God transcends gender. What I’m talking about here is why God is depicted in male terms in the Bible,” Prager offers as an initial caveat, before explaining in full the rationale and necessity for a male God. He said God is depicted as male for three main, essential reasons.
One: The Hebrew Bible’s primary concern is making a good world.
Two: A good world can only be achieved by making good people.
And three: The people who commit nearly all the world’s violence are males.”
Prager continues:
“Therefore, it is in both men’s and women’s interests to depict God in the masculine.
If the father figure/rule-giver that boys need is not on Earth, a morally authoritative masculine God can serve as an effective substitute. Any discomfort you might feel with a masculine depiction of God is not comparable to the pain we will all feel if boys are not civilized into good men.
To transform a wild boy into a good man, a male role model is as necessary as a male rule-giver. So, when the Bible depicts God as merciful, compassionate, and caring for the poor and the widow, it is not so much interested in describing God as in providing a model for humans, especially males, to emulate.”
