A new report has revealed that the October 18, 2025, “No Kings” protests, organized by Indivisible against Trump’s perceived authoritarianism, were funded, at least in part, by infamous and controversial Hungarian billionaire George Soros, whose Open Society Foundation appears to have been connected to the protests. Some of the NGOs to which he is connected could lose their non-profit status over the issue.
Such is what was revealed by reports that traced $7.61M in Open Society grants to Indivisible since 2017, allegedly for civic engagement. Further, the infamous billionaire has significant ties to the Tides Network, to which he has donated large sums, leading to claims that Soros was involved in funding “paid agitators.”
Explaining the troubling details, Republican hardliner Sen. Ted Cruz said, as the Fox News report on the matter noted, “There’s considerable evidence that George Soros and his network are behind funding these rallies, which may well be riots all across the country.”
Continuing, the Texas Republican promised a strong reaction to what happened, saying, “This politicized march is being organized by Soros operatives and funded by Soros money. No one denies these basic facts. The Trump administration and the Republican Congress are committed to countering this network of left-wing violence.”
An Open Society Foundations spokesperson issued a noncommittal statement to dodge responsibility. “We support a wide range of independent organizations that work to deepen civic engagement through peaceful democratic participation, a hallmark of any vibrant society and a right protected by the Constitution,” the statement claimed, “Our grantees make their own decisions about their work, consistent with the law and the terms of their grant agreements.”
In a similar attempt to dodge responsibility for their actions, the Open Society Foundations website claimed. “The Open Society Foundations oppose all forms of violence, including violent protests.”
However, the Indivisible website itself told a different story, as Fox News Digital noted. “On October 18, millions of us are rising again,” the webpage noted, “Protests can be strenuous and intense. They are most effective when we peacefully use our constitutionally protected rights of assembly and speech and properly prepare ahead of time.”

When this story broke on social media, conservatives were enraged. One lengthy post read, “NEWS George Soros’s nonprofit faces losing its tax status based on ties to the anti-Trump No Kings protests, Fox News reveals. A money trail shows a $3 million grant awarded in 2023 from Open Society to the Indivisible organization which is helping organize the protests.”
Continuing, the same user explained how this behavior may violate the law. “Under federal tax law nonprofits must not participate in politics. Nonprofits have lost their tax-exempt status for less, court records show,” the tweet noted.
Rounding out her remarks, the woman wrote, “The Trump administration now has grounds to pursue this in federal court or tax court to strip this Soros group from its tax exempt status. Soros has given $32 billion to this group since 1984 and it’s been operating tax free.”
Other users were similarly disturbed, such as one tweet which read, “The entire FAKE ‘No Kings’ protest was paid for by over 300 liberal groups. The group backing the bullshit marches received over $7 million from George Soros since 2017. These Communist hacks are not only FRAUDS, they’re literally paid agitators.”
Building on this point one other user claimed, “The ‘No Kings’ protests were insanely astroturfed. George Soros money got a bunch of boomers to protest Tesla dealerships… People don’t actually hate Trump so Democrats have to pay them to.”
