Four long years after the court case in which they were produced and then sealed, the final batch of documents naming Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged associates and victims is set to be released. Those documents reportedly contain not just eyebrow-raising names, such as Prince Andrew and law professor Alan Dershowitz, but also make “salacious” allegations about those named.
That is per a declaration filed on Wednesday which notes that the soon-to-be-released papers mention certain “alleged perpetrators” and those charged with “serious wrongdoing.” The Daily Mail, reporting on what’s in the Epstein court documents that will be released in the weeks, said:
The final batch of court documents containing ‘salacious’ allegations related to 167 of Jeffrey Epstein‘s associates, victims, and employees, will finally be unsealed – nearly four years after the disgraced financier’s death.
The material will be made public in the coming months and, DailyMail.com can reveal, is expected to include information pertaining to at least one ‘public figure.’
The documents refer to ‘alleged perpetrators’ or individuals accused of ‘serious wrongdoing’, as well as law enforcement officers and prosecutors, according to a declaration filed on Wednesday.
The Daily Mail then went on to note some names, saying “Prince Andrew, who is accused of having sex with Epstein victim Virginia Roberts when she was 17, and Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, are understood to be among the individuals mentioned in the papers.” It also added that it is unclear whether other individuals tied to Epstein, such as Bill Clinton and Bill Gates, will be named in the released documents.
Dershowitz has maintained his innocence since allegations against him arose. Prince Andrew has also maintained his innocence, though he settled with accuser Virginia Guiffre last year.
Further, the Daily Mail gave some background on from what case the documents come and why they have slowly been released to the media over the past four years, saying:
The documents represent the last of the sealed material to be made public as part of a years-long process that has been rumbling through federal court in New York since before Epstein apparently killed himself in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges.
The material was first filed in a defamation case brought by Roberts in 2015 against Ghislaine Maxwell, who is now serving 20 years in prison for sex trafficking and recruiting minors for Epstein.
The lawsuit was settled under seal in 2017 but the case material has since been gradually released in batches after numerous requests from media organizations.
The remaining documents are now set to be released after dozens of John or Jane Does mentioned in the papers did not object to their names being made public – which DailyMail.com understands includes The Duke of York.
The fight to release these documents has rumbled through the courts for years, particularly after Epstein’s alleged suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges. The soon to be released documents represent the last of that material from the 2015 court case, which was brought against Ghislaine Maxwell, who is now in prison for 20 years.
