WATCH: Trump Scores More Major Wins for American Veterans

In another major win for American veterans, President Donald Trump announced that he has managed to not only open a center that will care for homeless veterans, but that he has managed to push down the veteran unemployment rate by a massive 26% since taking over as president. The announcements came on Veterans Day, November 11.

As background, the huge announcement for American veterans and servicemembers came amidst an online furor from the MAGA base over a few decisions made by and policies announced by the Trump Administration and the president himself, such as continued support for H-1B visas and 50-year mortgages. As such, it delivered a much-needed slew of victory announcements for the embattled administration.

Beginning the portion of his speech describing how he is delivering wins for American veterans, the president said, “Under my leadership, we’re also fighting for the great veterans who have always, always been there for us, and especially when we needed them and needed them most. In nine months, the Trump administration has cut the backlog of VA benefit claims in half.”

Continuing, the president praised Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, saying, “That’s a big achievement, and Doug is going to get it down to zero. During the Biden administration, the backlog exploded like we had never seen before, and I’m going to eliminate 100% of that backlog.”

Giving some details on processing claims and how the VA’s capabilities have been expanded, he said, “We’re moving at that pace, and already we process more than 3 million backlog claims, the most of any year in the history of the VA. We’ve added more than 1 million extra service hours across the VA centers, and we’ve opened 20 new facilities in 13 states, something that people said just not possible to do.”

Then, giving more details on how he is delivering for veterans via expanding the VA, the president said, We also have brought back VA choice and VA accountability, taken away by the Biden administration, so that when you have to wait in line, you go out and you get yourself a doctor. We pay for the doctor. You have to wait.”

He added, “And the other thing is, we fired 1000s of people who didn’t take care of our great veterans. They were sadists, they were sick people, they were thieves, they were everything you want to name. And we got rid of over 9000 of them. And then when Biden came in, he hired them back, many of them, but we got rid of them. And I think we got rid of them permanently. We replaced them with people who love our veterans, not people who are sick people.”

That wasn’t all. He also said, commenting on his National Center for Warrior Independence, which provides housing, job training, and substance abuse services, the president said, “We’re confronting the tragedy of veteran homelessness head-on.” He further noted that his administration “will not rest until every veteran has a home.”

And, commenting on how the Bureau of Labor Statistics data revealed that the veteran unemployment rate has fallen from 4.2% in January to 3.1% in August, the president explained, “That’s a 26% drop in less than a year. Our veterans are finding good jobs, earning good wages, and getting the respect they deserve.”
