Conservatives were quick to fact-check Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), the House Minority Leader, after he claimed that Nancy Pelosi has done more for America than almost any other congressman. Speaking to Brett Baier, he dodged questions about Pelosi’s recent outrageous comments about Donald Trump, instead piling on effusive praise.
For context, Pelosi referred to the president as “just a vile creature. The worst thing on the face of the earth.” When the reporter asked if she meant this inflammatory comment, she doubled down: “I do, yeah. I do. Because he’s the president of the United States, and he does not honor the Constitution of the United States… In fact, he’s turned the Supreme Court into a rogue court. He’s abolished the House of Representatives. He’s chilled the press. He’s scared of people who are in our country legally.”
In any case, Brett Baier began the interaction by asking Jeffries to defend these comments. “Do you stand by what your mentor, Congresswoman Pelosi, said about the president?” he asked. However, Jeffries smirked and dodged the question.
The controversial Democrat began his remarks by saying, “Nancy Pelosi — Speaker Emerita Pelosi — is a legendary figure, a hero, [and] she’s done so much for so many over so many years. She speaks powerfully, she speaks authentically, she speaks eloquently on issues of importance to the American people.”
Interjecting, Baier quickly followed up.“Even in that moment?” he asked. Jeffries continued undetereed, saying, “As I indicated, Nancy Pelosi is a legend. She has done more for people here in this country than almost every single American who has served in the House of Representatives.”
Finally concluding his comments, Jeffries added, “She’s a force of nature, she’s made a difference in the lives of millions of people, and it’s been an honor and a privilege to serve with her over these years that I’ve spent in Congress.”
However, when news reached social media, conservatives were enraged by these comments. A popular conservative influencer noted, “Leader Hakeem Jeffries falsely claims Nancy Pelosi did more for the American people than almost all House members. The only person she’s enriched while in the House is herself through illegal insider stock trading. Pelosi will be remembered as selfish.”

The angry post about Pelosi allegedly enriching herself echoes comments from the president who slammed Pelosi for her dishonest dealings. Trump said, “You know, Nancy Pelosi became rich by having inside information. She made a fortune with her husband, and I think that’s disgraceful.”
“So in that sense, I’d like it, but I’d have to really see the I’d have, you know, I study these things very carefully. And this just happened . . . what I do think is Nancy Pelosi should be investigated because what she has is the highest return of anybody practically in the history of Wall Street, save a few,” he further revealed.
Building on these comments, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “I mean, she is rightfully criticized because she makes $174,000 a year. Yet she has a net worth of approximately $413 million. In 2024, Nancy Pelosi’s stock portfolio — this was a fascinating statistic to me — grew 70% in one year 2024.”
