In a horrific incident in Phoenix, Arizona, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer was ambushed and wounded in a traffic stop ambush carried out by an illegal alien from Honduras who tried to run him over, with the ambush sparking a shooting in the streets of the southwestern city in the wee hours of the morning.
For reference, ICE agents are trying to do what Tom Homan and others have vowed, “flooding the zone” across America and searching out illegal aliens across all areas of life, particularly in sanctuary cities and other jurisdictions known for having large numbers of illegal aliens, such as southwestern cities like Phoenix.
It was as part of such a general sweep that ICE officer pulled over an illegal alien from Honduras named Jose Garcia-Sorto. Doing so in what they thought would be a routine traffic stop along the Interstate 17 highway in north Phoenix on Wednesday, October 29, at 4:00 am, they found themselves under attack from the violent illegal alien.
That is because, as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed in a statement to Fox News Digital, Garcia-Sorto, who was driving the car, started trying to drive away from the officers as they approached his vehicle. That led to one officer being severely wounded and Garcia-Sorto being shot.
Revealing as much, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin explained, “As officers approached the vehicle, Garcia-Sorto began to pull away. As the vehicle abruptly began speeding away, an officer was in the path of the vehicle. Fearing for his life, the officer defensively discharged his service weapon two times striking Garcia-Sorto’s vehicle.” The officer who opened fire had to be taken to the hospital for evaluation after the incident.
McLaughlin also commented on how these sorts of incidents show the danger of the sort of rhetoric that is pushed by Democrats who are trying to discredit ICE, saying, “These are the consequences of conduct and rhetoric by dishonest politicians who spew misinformation and activists who urge illegal aliens to resist arrest.”
Continuing, McLaughlin explained that ICE officers are facing a tremendously more threatening environment right now, thanks to that rhetoric and the tensions heightened by it, with assaults against them up 100%. She said, “Resisting arrest puts the safety of illegal aliens, law enforcement, and the public at risk. Our law enforcement officers are facing a more than 1000% increase in assaults against them including vehicle rammings by illegal aliens.”

Concluding that point, she demanded that Democrats and their mouthpieces start toning down the rhetoric so they are no longer putting ICE agents at risk, saying, “We are once again calling on sanctuary politicians, agitators, and the media to turn the temperature down and stop calling for violence and resistance against ICE law enforcement.”
The alien’s wife, Anahi, told the media, “They (law enforcement) don’t wanna say anything to me. They’re only saying that he’s in the hospital, but that he’s in there with a different name, and that they don’t want him to talk, and no one can visit him.”
