WATCH: CNN Host Skewers Lying Democrat To Her Face with Merciless Fact-Check, Leaving Her Embarrassed and Stunned

As the government shutdown enters its fifth week, CNN’s Jake Tapper sparred with Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) on why Senate Democrats refuse to reopen the government, risking SNAP benefits for millions, including children.

Unable to accept accountability, Stansbury blamed the Trump administration for deliberately withholding $5B in contingency funds to “starve American children” in a breathless attack. Astutely interjecting, Tapper noted that Democrats share blame by blocking funding to preserve Obamacare subsidies, calling the contingency a short-term fix.

Starting off the interview, Jake Tapper, no friend of President Trump, pointed out the apparent contradiction. “Should the Democratic senators from New Mexico, your home state, vote to open the government so that these SNAP funds are not at risk?” he asked.

Firing back, the entitled Dem lost her cool almost instantly. Stansbury whined, “Let me be clear, the administration is choosing to starve American children with money that they already have appropriated. This is a choice by the White House. They are choosing to cut off food assistance.”

Pushing back, Tapper pointed out, “Congresswoman, this is also a choice by Senate Democrats to not vote to open the government.” Throwing a temper tantrum, the entitled senator complained, “No, it is not. Let me just be clear, the money for contingency plans is sitting there. That is why the states are suing the White House for withholding food.”

Putting this maneuver in context, he stated, “It would be two to three weeks’ worth of SNAP funds.” Rudely interrupting, she said, “Yeah, well, it may not be a big deal to you, but let me tell you that for the grandparents…” Breaking in, Tapper said,  “It is a big deal to me. My point is it’s a short-term solution.”

Embarassing herself, Stansbury continued her comments. “Sir, I am here in the House of Representatives. It is shut down. I am fighting to get the government reopened. I am fighting to get funding put back into SNAP that already exists, and I am fighting for the American people. I am here, but show me a single Republican that is here, not a single one is here to make sure that Americans are fed on Saturday,” the New Mexico Democrat noted.

In another interview, she echoed these sentiments, whining, “They think that they can use the hunger of children to try to leverage Democrats rather than feed 42 million Americans. And we’re not going to stand for it.”

A viral post, which chronicled the dramatic interaction, read, ‘🚨 EVEN CNN IS CALLING OUT THE DEMOCRATS FOR LYING.” In the comments under this message, conservatives were enraged by Senate Democrats’ inability to take responsibility for their actions.

In the comments under that clip of this interaction posted to social media, one woman cut to he quick.  “She is fighting for ILLEGALS.  Well, I’m pretty surprised to hear Tapper correcting her, he won’t say that part. He won’t say that the fight is for illegals,” she pointed out.
