In yet more bad news for Democrats, particularly party leaders like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), U.S. Air Force Academy graduate and Iraq War veteran Jennifer-Ruth Green has announced a Congressional bid as a Republican to take over a seat long held by Democrats in Indiana.
That seat is Indiana’s 1st Congressional District, which is represented by three-term Democratic Rep. Frank Mrvan, and has long been held by Democrats. Now, the combat veteran is attempting to pry it out of his hands and help improve the Republican majority in Congress, something that would be a major win in the 2026 midterms given that normally the party out of power makes gains.
Green announced her bid to win the seat for Republicans in a video posted to X in the morning on Tuesday, October 28. In the post, she said, “My name is Jennifer-Ruth Green. I’m a pilot, Iraq War combat vet, Air National Guard officer, and served as Indiana’s Secretary of Public Safety. Now, I’m running for Congress because President Trump needs conservative fighters to help put America First. Strap in. Let’s Go.πΊπΈ”
In the video, which began with her in the cockpit of a jet and communicating with what appeared to be a base’s flight control, Green said, “When you’re in the air at 10,000 feet, you see the bigger picture. You see the people that make this country great, their struggles, triumphs, hopes and dreams high above the land we love.”
Continuing, she said, commenting on her family’s history of service and her Christian faith, “You remember the promise of America and all that President Trump is fighting to save. I grew up the daughter of Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Paul and Vivian Green. In their home, I learned integrity, love of country and the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who saved me at nine years old.”
Adding to that, she commented on how those values guide her, saying, “All these values guide me to this day. After graduating from the United States Air Force Academy, I trained to vet and recruit spies. I deployed to Baghdad to keep America safe. Today, I serve as a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard, and I founded a faith-based nonprofit to help at-risk youth through aerospace training.”
Building on that, she commented on her history of public service in a civilian role, and burnished her credentials as someone who worked with President Trump, saying, “As Indiana’s first Secretary of Public Safety, I supported our first responders and helped the Trump administration remove dangerous illegal immigrants from our streets.”

Still not done, she commented on how she thinks that she can defeat Frank Mrvan this time around, and help keep the House on Trump’s side. She said, “After nearly defeating far-left Congressman Frank Mrvan in 2022, I’m ready to finish the mission. The stakes couldn’t be higher when we fire Frank Mrvan and take back Northwest Indiana for the first time since 1928. Republicans will keep the house, and we’ll stop radical Democrats from impeaching President Trump in Congress.”
Then, describing her agenda, she said, “I’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with our president to rebuild American manufacturing for middle class jobs, fight for bigger paychecks and lower prices, support our farmers and rural communities, secure the border and deport violent illegal immigrants, back the blue and defend the right to life and the Second Amendment.”
Concluding, the congressional hopeful explained, “This isn’t about politics, it’s about saving America. I’m Jennifer Ruth Green. I serve our country in uniform, and I am ready to fight for the America we love in Congress. Strap in. Let’s go.” Watch her here:
