Two House Republicans are now pushing the Justice Department to launch an investigation into New York City mayoral frontrunner and proud, self-described socialist Zohran Mamdani’s path to citizenship and potentially give him a one-way ticket out of the country.
Last week, Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) demanded federal law enforcement officials to “review every naturalization of the past 30 years — starting with Mamdani.” Agreeing in spirit over the weekend, billionaire SpaceX CEO and owner of social media platform X, Elon Musk, a major force in right-leaning politics given his ownership of X and funding ability, pointed out that Mamdani is the future of the Democratic Party, indicating that liberals are still pushing themselves hard to the left despite America’s rejection of progressive policies made evident by the election of Donald Trump to the White House.
And all this comes alongside the horrifying fact of Mamdani being photographed with an Islamic imam with terrorist ties who has repeatedly voiced support for jihad against the United States, including support for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
In any case, Rep. Fine is moving to denaturalize and deport Mamdani. “I just think we need to take a hard look at how these folks became citizens, and if there is any fraud or any violation of the rules we need to denaturalize and deport,” Fine said in comments delivered to the New York Post.
Fine also called for an investigation into anti-Israel Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN), a member of the infamous “Squad,” who is also one of two Muslim women serving in Congress. Omar has made a number of antisemitic remarks during her time in office and is embroiled in an alleged scandal involving a marriage to her own brother to help him gain legal status in the U.S.
The Florida Republican referred to Mamdani as a threat to the country, adding, “I know that there’s a lot of us that are very, very concerned about the enemy within – people who have come to this country to become citizens, to destroy it.” Rep. Fine then waved off logistical concerns about revoking the citizenship of naturalized Americans after they get elected to top jobs. “If they’re not Americans, they can’t be in office,” he stated.
Fine’s colleague, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), has been like a pit bull with its jaws locked on a bone in pushing for an investigation into Mamdani, an effort he first started in June. Ogles says the socialist who is currently leading the NYC mayoral polls told a few fibs on his sworn statement when becoming a naturalized citizen in 2018, making it possible to denaturalize and deport him

In fact, Ogles has loudly called to “Deport Mamdani!” and referred to him as an “antisemitic, socialist, communist who will destroy the great City of New York.” The Congressman said, “In 2018 when he was naturalized, he failed to disclose some of the things that he had been doing, one of which was joining the [Democratic] Socialists of America. That’s a communist organization which, quite frankly, at that time, would have disqualified him from becoming a United States citizen.”
He then brought up Mamdani’s call to release the “Holy Land Five,” a group of five Palestinian-Americans who were in charge of the Muslim charity Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. The quintet was convicted in 2008 of funneling millions in funding to terrorist group Hamas.
Immigration law calls individuals inadmissible if they have “been a member of or affiliated with the Communist or any other totalitarian party.” The current form that potential citizens fill out asks applicants to reveal if they have been associated “in any way” with “any Communist or totalitarian party anywhere in the world.”
President Donald Trump is also not a big fan of Mamdani. The president has referred to him as a “communist lunatic,” among many other legitimate criticisms. However, when confronted about such allegations, Mamdani continues to deny he was ever a communist.
Liberals in Congress are furious with Ogles for his comments. Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI), who represents Dearborn Heights, home to a large Islamic population, wants Ogles censured for his social media posts. The Justice Department has not ruled out an investigation into Mamdani. “Due to the Democrats’ shutdown, congressional correspondence is delayed. The department does not comment on the status of ongoing or potential investigations,” a DOJ spokesperson said to The Post.
