Speaking in a powerful speech about the utter disaster that is the government’s former decision to provide welfare benefits to illegal aliens, a move the Trump Administration took major action to correct, Vice President JD Vance declared that it is bankrupting America for us to have such a generous suite of welfare programs that help non-citizens, including those here illegally.
For reference, though the Vance speech occurred before the government shutdown, his commentary remains relevant because the shutdown was in large part sparked by Democratic demands that any spending bill refund the programs Republicans cut in the name of not providing welfare benefits to illegal aliens. VP Vance has helped lead the charge in rejecting that and exposing what Democrats are trying to do.
In any case, Vance’s prior comments on the matter was sparked by a reporter asking him, “Richard Elliott with WSBTV here in Atlanta, you’ve heard the criticism from Democrats that making the Trump tax cuts permanent comes at a cost to Medicare, SNAP benefits, and other things like that. How would you answer some of those criticisms by the Democrats?”
Vance responded by saying that it is nonsensical that the government would allow foreigners who can’t even support themselves to flood our shores and drain our public assistance programs, saying, “Yeah. Well, I appreciate that question. Look, there are a couple of responses to that criticism. First of all, the only people that we say should not get free government health care benefits are illegal aliens and those who refuse to try to even look for a job. It’s very common sense.”
Continuing, the Vice President noted that America will be fiscally strangled by the burden of caring for so many illegal aliens if it continues to pour so many resources into the delusional decision to subsidize the lives of those who not only haven’t even paid into the system, but are here illegally.
The vice president said, on that point, “And look, we are going to bankrupt this country if we keep on giving the people’s benefits, the people’s Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits, to illegal aliens who have no legal right to be in this country and never paid into the system to begin with.”
He then added, on much the same note, that the programs at issue where never intended to subsidize the whole world as if it has some right to the pocketbook of the average American. He said, “That is never the design of those programs, to give them to every person all over the world.”

Concluding, he noted that the public assistance programs ought to only be used by Americans who paid into them and help support them, and that the Trump administration is taking action to ensure that is the case, saying, “They ought by right to belong, to the American citizens who paid into those programs to begin with, and that’s what we’re fighting to make sure happens.”
