In yet another embarrassing incident for New York City’s socialist mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani, a video out of the city showed seemingly conservative protesters in the city’s Foley Square heckling him and chasing him out of the square by hurling insults and questions his way, leading to his team whisking him out of there.
As background, Mamdani has made national news repeatedly with his absolutely radical pronouncements about what policies he would engage in if elected, most of which revolve around socialist economic policies and being obscenely soft on crime and criminals. As such, he is absolutely detested by most conservatives, who see him as a very negative force.
That has led to incidents in which he has been heckled and chastized when around conservatives, and he has, entertainingly, generally run away from those incidents rather than engage with his detractors. For example, at one point, he was chased out of a Staten Island restaurant by conservatives who were yelling that he wasn’t welcome there.
Such is about what appears to have happened in Foley Square on Saturday, October 11, with the radical mayoral candidate being chased out of the square by a loud conservative protester who shouted at him to denounce certain ideas and groups, and jeered that Mamdani would face jail time like NY AG Letitia James currently is.
That enraged protester was identified as 55-year-old Raul Rivera, a Bronx resident who has had past run-ins with Mamdani, including one case where he was accused of biting a Mamdani staffer. In this case, he stuck to yelling, shouting, “Antisemite! Denounce Sharia law! Denounce Hezbollah! You can’t do it!” He added, “Walk the narrow or you’re going to jail with Tish!”
As Raul chased him across the square yelling, Mamdani didn’t stop to engage or fight back. Instead, Mamdani practically ran away from the enraged protester and let his security team usher him into a waiting SUV as Raul yelled at him. One of the Mamdani staffers did, however, engage with Raul, leading to a shoving match.
Particularly, Raul followed Mamdani to the waiting SUV and yelled at him for being a “f–king rat,” and as he did so, a member of Mamdani’s team shoved him away from the vehicle. That then led to Raul, who was wearing a backward baseball cap, jumping back into the fray and shoving the Mamdani team member multiple times while yelling, “Get the f—k off me, bro!”

The incident resulted because Mamdani had arrived in Foley Square for what was planned to be a protest in support of Letitia James as she faces charges regarding mortgage fraud she is alleged to have committed, fraud for which there is quite clear and convincing evidence. Raul was one of the counter-protesters who arrived to jeer at the left and Mamdani.

President Trump, roasting Mamdani in a late September Truth Social post, said, “Self proclaimed New York City Communist, Zohran Mamdani, who is running for Mayor, will prove to be one of the best things to ever happen to our great Republican Party. He is going to have problems with Washington like no Mayor in the history of our once great City.”
Continuing, the president vowed, “Remember, he needs the money from me, as President, in order to fulfill all of his FAKE Communist promises. He won’t be getting any of it, so what’s the point of voting for him? This ideology has failed, always, for thousands of years. It will fail again, and that’s guaranteed! President DJT”
