Infamous woke judge Shelley M. Richmond Joseph will be forced to defend herself from a misconduct hearing for helping Jose Medina-Perez, a twice-deported Dominican national, evade ICE in 2018 at Newton District Court.
For context, Joseph has been suspended without pay and stands accused of instructing a clerk to mislead an ICE agent and turning off courtroom recording devices to facilitate Medina-Perez’s escape through a rear exit.
In any case, speaking in her client’s defence, Joseph’s attorney tried to describe her as a ‘folk hero,’“If you were to walk down the street and take a survey of the people you meet, 100% of them would tell you Judge Joseph let an illegal immigrant out the back door of the district court. Fifty percent of them would say she’s a criminal and should go to jail. Fifty percent would call her a folk hero for what she gave. But she definitely did it,” the lawyer claimed.
Building on this point, the lawyer continued the strained defence of the controversial judge, saying, “It has become such a part of local lore in Boston that the media, for the most part, have dropped the niceties of alleged or charged, and they report and make references to this incident as if a dozen people had seen Judge Joseph get off the bench, escorted the defendant to the door, gave him a hug and wished him Godspeed.”
When the story went viral on social media, users were outraged by it. “In my opinion … Judge Shelley M Richmond Joseph is guilty of releasing an illegal out her back door, so he could avoid ICE. Judges have to be held to a higher standard. They cannot rule from the bench based on political ideologies and/or feelings … they have to rule based upon our Constitutional Law!” one post read.
Unfortunately, as we reported, Judge Shelley M. Richmond Joseph is far from the first judge to abuse their power for political ends. For example, Florida Judge Dianna Tennis faces a public reprimand for making over 900 illegal political donations totaling $29,000 to Democratic candidates.
Initially, the scandal was broken by conservative influencer Libs of TikTok, who blasted the disgraced judge. “ EXPOSED: Florida Judge Diana Tennis made 900+ donations totaling $29K to Democrat candidates and orgs since 2016 in violation of Canons 1, 2A, and 7A (1)(e), which prohibit judges from making contributions to political organizations or candidates. She needs to RESIGN” an initial post read. Reacting, one commentator said, “Resign? She should be arrested.”

Adding more context, a Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission filing shows more details of the sordid affair. “Judge Tennis admitted to her misconduct and has cooperated with the Commission in all respects during this inquiry. She has expressed deep regret that her conduct could have eroded the public’s perception of the integrity of the judiciary and judicial elections,” the document read. Not only that, the same source described Judge Tennis as “far and away the most prolific offender.”
