Back in late April of this year, Trump Administration Border Czar Tom Homan went absolutely nuclear on a woke CNN journalist who tried distorting the facts to attack him and ICE, showing as he did so what is really going on and what was going on with the now soon-to-be deported “Maryland Man,” Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
As background, Garcia is an illegal alien who was living in Maryland when he was caught by the Trump Administration as part of a crackdown on MS-13 and was immediately deported back to his home country of El Salvador, to be housed in Bukele’s CECOT prison. That sparked a leftist freakout, as the Democrats alleged that he had been falsely accused. The fight has since been grinding on, until Kilmar lost his court case in early October and now, pending a final appeal, will be deported to a “third country” in Africa.
In any case, back in late April, the furious matter was still sharply in the news, and CNN’s Priscilla Alvarez tried using it to attack Border Czar Tom Homan during a White House Press Conference in which he appeared alongside White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to comment on the crackdown.
Doing so, Priscilla Alvarez asked, “Late last week, there were three U.S. citizen children who were removed with their mothers who were in the United States illegally. There have been — a federal judge in Louisiana who was appointed by President Trump, said that he was concerned that there was, ‘no meaningful process.’ Are you concerned that due process, at least for the U.S. citizen children, is being flouted, and that the speed at which the enforcement is being done could lead to errors, as was the case in the Kilmer Garcia case? And then also, if you could give an update on the deportation numbers under this administration and whether you’re pleased with them.”
Tom Homan sounded off in response. Beginning, he snapped that there was no error in Garcia’s case, snapping, “First of all, I — I don’t accept the term error in Abrego Garcia. There is an oversight. If there was — there’s a withholding order. But things have changed. The facts were wrong. The withholding order has changed. He is now a terrorist, which means his withholding order is set aside. And the gang he was fearing from being removed to El Salvador no longer exists, so the facts around that case are totally different. I’ll let the lawyers litigate that.”
Continuing, he noted that all of those who are in the country illegally have committed crimes and put themselves in the bad position they are now in, snapping, “But as far as the U.S. 30c kids, I said from day one that, if you enter this country illegally, it’s a crime. If you remain in this country illegally and you ignore a judge’s order about self deporting — if you choose to have a U.S. citizen child, knowing you’re in this country illegally, you put yourself in that position. You put your family in that position.”
Using that lead-in to discuss what is going on with deported families, Homan then noted, “What we did is removed children with their mothers who requested the children depart with them. This was a parental decision . . . The mothers made that choice and I tell you what, if we didn’t do it, the story today would be Trump administration separating families again. No, we’re keeping families together. So, when a parent says, I want that — I want my two-year-old baby to go with me, we made that happen. They weren’t deported. We don’t deport U.S. Citizens. The parents made that decision, not the United States government.”

Further, Homan called out the CNN journalist and her peers for not asking about Laken Riley or Rachel Morin, both of whom were murdered by illegal aliens. He snapped, “But — but I don’t hear any questions about Laken Riley had a mother. She never she’s never going to see her child again. Rachel Morin. She had five children. You know, those children are going to see their mom again.”
Then, taking the opportunity to defend the administration’s policy and expose why the narrative pushed by CNN is ridiculous, he snapped, “This administration is doing the right thing. Every public safety threat we arrest from this country and remove from this country is much safer. So, parents will make the decision what happens to their child. Having a U.S. citizen child does not make you immune from our laws.”
He further noted, on that same point about how a soft approach to illegal aliens has put even them in harm’s way, not just Americans, he snapped, “If that’s the message we send the entire world, enter the country illegally, it’s a crime. Don’t worry about it. Get ordered removed by an immigration judge. Don’t worry about it. No one’s looking for you and have a U.S. citizen child and you’re immune from our laws? You’re never going to fix the border. People will keep putting themselves in harm’s way. More women will die. More children will die crossing this border. We got to secure the border by enforcing laws. We’re not making this up. We’re enforcing laws under statute enacted by Congress, and it’s the right thing to do.”
