In the latest round of Fox News forgetting who its viewers are and trying to win brownie points with the woke left Democrats by pushing Democrat talking points, Fox News Channel reporter Peter Doocy sat down with Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) for an interview about the shutdown. During the interview, Sen. Kelly tried to dismantle Republican claims about the shutdown, lying as he did so without much pushback from Doocy, which sparked furious backlash from President Trump.
As background, Republicans have brought out a bevy of evidence showing that the shutdown is happening because of the unacceptable spending that Democrats are trying to foist on the country, most egregious amongst which is hundreds of billions of dollars in healthcare spending that would go to non-citizens, including illegal aliens.
Doocy, asking Kelly about the matter, said, “As I understand it, the House has already passed the spending bill. That’s why the White House is appealing to some moderate Democrats to vote with Republicans to reopen the government. You’re a moderate Democrat. Are you going to vote with Republicans to reopen the government?”
Kelly, responding, claimed that Democrats want to reopen the government, ignoring the reason for the shutdown having happened in the first place. He said, “Well, if we could reopen the government and bring down these costs, absolutely. Nobody wants to see the government shut down. I mean, we know what happens when people don’t get their paychecks. We get that.”
Doocy, bringing up the healthcare matter, tried making Kelly and the Democrats look more reasonable despite the clear evidence of how their policies will aid illegal aliens, saying, “So, the Democratic position, your official position here, is that illegal immigrants should not have any access to taxpayer-funded health insurance. Does that include federal and state?”
Kelly then lied by omission without Doocy pushing back, noting that law already prevents illegal aliens from accessing certain types of healthcare spending but ignoring that more is going on here. He said, “Well, the federal law is that undocumented individuals do not have access to Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, even the Affordable Care Act. That’s the law. So this is a red herring from my Republican colleagues.”
Trump reacted with fury on Truth Social. He began, noting that FNC and Doocy were engaged in “fake spin” on behalf of the Democrats, “Why is FoxNews and Peter Doocy putting on Democrat Senator Mark Kelly to talk about, totally unabated or challenged, Healthcare? The FAKE SPIN is so bad for Republicans that it is hard to believe that we WIN.”

Continuing, the president angrily wrote, “It will be very unfair, in the future, when they don’t have “TRUMP” to fight for them. Therefore, we should fix it, NOW! I’m watching this Interview. It just doesn’t end. Fox should either get on board, or get off board, NOW, but at this point, it just doesn’t make any difference to me.”
Skewering Fox News yet further, he added, “They suck up the Ratings because of us, and then spin them in the Democrats’ direction. They refuse to put up Polls that correctly show me at 65% in Popularity, a Republican RECORD, but if I have a fake bad “Poll,” many of which are done by Fox (One of the worst “Pollsters” out there is the FoxNews Poll), they put them up immediately, and with gusto. Republicans are so tired of this fight with Fox always trying to be so “politically correct!” Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
