Rachel Bade, a former Politico reporter, argued in a recent podcast appearance that the partial government shutdown, which was triggered by Democrats, will harm the DNC more than their opposition. While President Trump was able to fund the vast majority of his objectives through the BBB, Democrats have chosen to shut down the government over a foolish desire to give free healthcare to illegal immigrants.
Additionally, Trump has wisely used this opportunity to fire woke bureaucrats in Washington. Bade noted that Republicans can capitalize on public frustration over furloughed workers and unpaid troops, shifting the focus from healthcare disputes to the shutdown’s impacts, such as disrupted air travel and Social Security services. Supporting her argument, she has noted that several Democrats have already defected, weakening Schumer’s position.
In any case, the reporter began her comments by stating that democrats would start to feel the pressure. “You know, the conversation is going to shift from the ACA tax credits to the emergency, and that’s why the pressure is just going to skyrocket on Democrats,” she noted.
Continuing her insightful argument, Bade added, “So, I think over the next, you know, week or so, if it lasts that long, we’re just going to have this … gut-wrenching reminder of what shutdowns mean. I mean, it’s not just some people who live paycheck-to-paycheck. Most people cannot go without getting a subsequent paycheck. Like, that’s just the reality of things — troops not getting paid.”
Explaining the path to victory for the GOP, she gave a simple and effective line of reasoning. “I mean, all Republicans have to do is go on TV over and over again and talk about these impacts. I mean, air traffic controllers, don’t you want to fly safe?” she explained.
Adding on to her previous point, the reporter continued her series of questions, asking, “OK, what if they don’t show up because they’re not getting paid? That’s a real problem, right? National parks. What’s going to happen there? What if you need — have a question — with Social Security? You can’t get ahold of anything.”
Concluding her comments on the podcast, Bade took aim at Chuck Schumer. “I think the fact that [Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.] lost three people last night shows kind of where this is going, right? And I do think more people will peel off,” she added.

After her previous comments, she took to social media to explain her reasoning in additional detail, noting, “Thing is, DEMOCRATS shut the government down. Not Republicans. Small technicality, I know. (Facts are funny things!)”
Despite angry responses from woke activists, she continued. “It’s amazing to me how many folks on the left have gone ballistic over my tweet of a simple (and by the way, accurate!) statement… that yes, DEMOCRATS shut down the government — not Republicans,” the post read.
Wrapping up the flurry of posts to X, formerly Twitter, she explained, “Folks, it’s not that difficult. You can argue you agree with the tactic, or not, but it’s like saying the sky is blue. And yet I’ve had prominent Dems on here accusing me of pandering to the admin for scoops – and worse. Ugly stuff.”
