In a tragic example of woke values run amok, an employee for Tennessee media station WDEF News 12 Now took to social media to cheer and celebrate the assassination of TPUSA founder and conservative icon Charlie Kirk, leading to days upon days of conservative backlash. Even worse, the media station initially refused to punish the employee for the horrific comments, only doing so after days of being bombarded by thousands of conservatives and a multitude of conservative political figures, such as one of Tennessee’s US Senators.
For context, the station slammed the employee’s comments as going well past the limits of acceptable expression, despite respecting personal speech rights. An investigation followed the post, and conservatives, including U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn, demanded accountability.
In any case, Chris Hull, the man at the center of this scandal, took to his Facebook page to post, “If you don’t have something nice to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all. So, about Charlie Kirk…man what a marksman! 200 yards away, directly in the left carotid artery…impressive.”
Almost immediately, conservatives were enraged by this callous action. One prominent influencer posted, “The production manager for WDEF News 12 in Chattanooga, TN, PRAISED the aim of Charlie Kirk’s killer on Facebook. WDEF management STILL has NOT fired him. The media is filled with this scum. Email their General Manager Dan Howard to demand Chris Hull’s firing: [email protected]”
Initially, the station made it clear that they were aware of the post but had not fired Hull. “We are aware of recent comments made by one of our employees on social media. The post was made under a personal account, not a station account. Upper management has been notified and are handling the situation internally,” one message noted.
However, pressure kept building. Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s campaign took to social media to announce, “We are watching, WDEF News 12.” Similarly, Cierra Kruse, a local viewer, made her opinions clear, saying,”We do have a right to speak, but you have to expect a consequence for your actions when you speak so disgustingly about something that traumatized people. I unfortunately saw the video from home, and I still struggle with it.”
Ultimately, WDEF News 12 Now caved and announced that Hull had been fired. “We are aware of a recent social media post made by one of our employees that appeared to celebrate the tragic act of violence against Charlie Kirk,” the local station said.

Concluding its comments, WDEF News 12 Now noted, “While we respect individuals’ rights to personal expression and understand the value of healthy and respectful debate in our country, this employee’s comments went beyond such expression and debate and he is no longer employed with WDEF-TV News 12.”
This is far from the first case where a liberal has been fired for their wild social media posts about Charlie Kirk. As we reported, Oskaloosa High School art teacher Matthew Kargol took to social media to post “1 Nazi down,” although when confronted, he had the temerity to claim that his post was merely “rhetorical hyperbole.”
Explaining the firing, Oskaloosa School Superintendent Mike Fisher spoke to local media, saying, “I’m not a person on social media. But many people are, and they were sharing screenshots, and our comms director was all over it, and we were seeing all the traffic and the things that were going on. So we knew we had to get involved.”
